: What do ya do in the summer?
fastcat02 03-03-2002, 07:12 AM http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Just interested to see what everybody does in the summer time to cure the winter blues. Me personally, I spend all my time on the lake hunting walleye and monster pike. If its a weekend, I'm on the lake. I even venture out after work sometimes to catch the evening bite. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
SNORAT 03-03-2002, 07:18 AM I run the Northwest angle on Lake of the Woods in my 92 20ft crestliner Phantom doing pretty much the samething.Looks like I might be doing some ATVing also this year if I don't sell it and put the money away for next year.
fastcat02 03-03-2002, 07:28 AM http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Thats the way to do it, in comfort. I fish out of a 14ft lund with a johnson 9.9 on a 90 mile lake that can get pretty hairy sometimes. I would like to buy a newer lund but that would mean sacrificing a sled for it. The lund still floats so when it starts to sink I'll think about it. Nothing like the rush of ridin sleds http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
paul yarek 03-03-2002, 07:35 AM this summer i am going to look forward to a trip to lake of the woods and hopefully cure my musky hunt, i am going to take my 15 year old so it will have to be late in his summer holidays.
jwheeler 03-03-2002, 07:39 AM I go camping almost every weekend, and i drink and barbaque alot. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
SNORAT 03-03-2002, 07:40 AM Paul what part of Lake of the woods are you planing on going to?
fastcat02 03-03-2002, 07:41 AM http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Yummmmmmmm....BBQ........ I'm getting hungry http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
paul yarek 03-03-2002, 07:52 AM snorat,
*i don't know when i used to fish alot i read about the area's where the musky were thick so i will have to take that up again. the only time i have seen the lake of the woods is when i was in kenora last fall.
jwheeler,
*mother nature is going to get you. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
phazerhater 03-03-2002, 08:12 AM I spend as much time as I can on the water fishing and ski'n. *I also enjoy motorcycling. *Would be nice to get a 4 wheeler to ride in the summer time also, since that would be about the closest thing to sledding for in the summer...
Other than that, just waxing the sled a gazzilion times and sit on the sled making vroom-vroom noises.haha http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
ballsout1 03-03-2002, 08:15 AM Sportscars, motorcycles, and beer...
fastcat02 03-03-2002, 08:16 AM http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I think sitting on the sled and makin vroom vroom noises is a national pastime for most of us http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
SNORAT 03-03-2002, 08:25 AM I usually make it to Kenora a couple of times a year just for a nice boat ride about 50 to 60 miles from the Northwest angle. We make our ussual rounds to the chip truck for some salt and vinigar fries then to Canandan Tire just to look around the last stop before we head down to the boats is the Blue Heron for some Ice cream for the kids while the women shop in the tourist trap store in the Same building.Ever try Lake trout fishing? They have some pretty good size ones in White fish bay. There alot of islands on the northern part of the Lake so it can get easy to get lost around there.I spend most of my time around Outer bay,Portage bay monument Bay etc ,nice area to just relax and wet a line also some monst walleyes in portage bay on the 20 ft reefs and shelves in there, also the water is pretty clear there for Lake of the woods but watch out for the Rocks http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif *as they are not marked except for on the charts and the charts are not very accurate either.I could go on for Days about that Place (the Angle) I run out of Jakes Resort at the angle But I would recomend either Youngs bay or The Northwest angle resort as that is were the pubs are ie Jerry's and Grumpies,Oh I forgot about Prothros trading post (nice old Cabins) and Angle outpost they could also acomadate fellow fisherpeople.
Ther are also many reasorts on the islands that are awfull nice too.
NHIcegator 03-03-2002, 09:25 AM Watch NASCAR,sit on the couch thinking about winter.
Go camping a few times a year,don't miss a race at N.H.I.S
Go deep sea fishing on my father in laws 26ft boat.
oh,and work,we get alot of o.t in the summer.
SNORAT 03-03-2002, 09:27 AM Here is another thing I like to do.This is me at my mothers birday party on the beach on the south side of Oak island Lake of the woods-Northwest Angle.
corvette77 03-03-2002, 11:10 AM i was going to say doesnt anybody jetski *i live on a 278acre lake and enjoy bass fishin jetsking or just cruiseing around on my pontoon boat i live on the water in the summer time
NDMtnSledder 03-03-2002, 12:32 PM I spend the summers golfing and going to the local dirt track races. *I'm thinking this summer that being i'm not going to trade sleds due to the 400 miles I put on I might have to get a JetSki. *That and I get wait to get the 69 firebird out again.
Fire Cat 03-03-2002, 01:01 PM spend most of my time on the four wheeler. also go fishing and work
Rocketman 03-03-2002, 02:43 PM hahah...nice pipes SNORAT!! I wish I had a seadoo....my summers are spent camping as often as possible, catching only the 3+ foot Walleye and the Pike known to steal small children from the beach.... http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *And nothing beats float fishing with little kids for perch! http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif (except the tangled lines...you all know what it's like with little ones "practising" their casting... http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif )
* Dad picked up an ATV last fall, so I'll be "testing" that as well..... http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
msimpson 03-03-2002, 03:02 PM We live on a small private lake in Jamestown Ohio. *We spend most of our time water skiing and wakeboarding with our twin daughters in our SKI NAUTIQUE. *Some weekends we ski in tournments.

In summer, I usually get a geology job meaning sampling on atv and boat and interpretation of rocks so I'm camping for about 3 months and usually stationed near inaccessible lakes, where the pikes are 20 pounds and walley, 20"and more. When I come back home (once or twice during summer) I go fishing and camping with my bro near James bay Quebec, more precisely, take a right at Radisson and go on for 600 km's of dirt road to Caniapiscau reservoir (near Labrador). There isn't any better fishing on the planet, 25 + pound pike, quota = 10 each of 4 + pounds walley, lake trout, brook trout and hybrid salmon-trout (not sure what it's called in english).
tbuk2 03-03-2002, 09:13 PM I pack up the horses and head to the high country to watch the elk and deer. Spring is my favorite time with the elk starting to calve. It's something special to watch a bunch of new born calves out romping around. This is also the time to scope out new snowmobiling areas.
tsouth 03-04-2002, 03:07 AM NASCAR
Krusty 03-04-2002, 03:17 AM I got more miles last summer than I did this winter. On the grass five hundred feet at a time. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

LadyK 03-04-2002, 10:41 AM I am very impressed fastcat!!!I have a red skidoo apron I wear at work.LOL.A suggestion for your wedding cake..something simple with fresh flowers.I have seen some stunning cakes done this way,or you can have flowers made of icing that look real,my mother-in-law made my wedding cake with these purple orchids she made. They were very kool.Just my $0.02 buddy http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cheesy.gif
fastcat02 03-04-2002, 10:45 AM http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Thanks LadyK. rodmax 03-04-2002, 11:15 AM http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *That is great work when you get paid to reel those big ones in, Just think about it we use 200-300 lb test line, and it can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 5-6 hours to get it in!!
My best day was 6 fish averaging 350-450 lbs landed in 4.5 hours.
TnTs4mE 03-04-2002, 12:18 PM Same thing I do during the winter. *I work on sleds. *I'm a vintage sledhead and summertime is my time to really get going on my projects. *I just bought a 7 sled collection from a person and going to start restoring a couple of them. *Thinking of doing the 73 blizzard and 78 Sno Pro.

I hide in an air conditioned house during this period. *Otherwise, I'm mowing (6.5 acres), working on the cars, working on the house, or feeding my animals. *I try to get out of town and up into the mountains during the peak of the heat.

Seriously, I'm trying to figure out a way. *Only problem is, that I have a well paying job, and one just doesn't up and walk away from that. *Especially with the current economy. I don't want to be anchored to a self started small business either.
