What is the correct hone to use on an iron cylinder when everything is alright and all you want to do is ligthly hone it to deglaze the cylinder for new rings? Some say the three hone spring loaded one, others say No use the ballhone. Some say the spring loaded one catches the ports, others say the ball type catches the ports. Which is the proper one to use for a light hone. Thanks for your time.

The correct size ballhone is the hot ticket....It works great Nick
A ball hone could be used only if it fits very lightly in the bore. I have shattered balls off of one of these things before because it fit to tight. the best way to hone a iron bore is to use a 3 or 4 stone hone with fine stones and hone just enough to break the glaze. I repeat ! just enough to break the glaze. Well that should do it. hope the new rings do it for you and happy sledding :)

i agree with m 10. use a thin oil so stones won't gun up.
