I`m getting ready to set my suspension up for this year.I weigh about 150, I like to hit the bumps hard and fly high I really like hitting studder bumps hard and also when they get about a foot to a foot an a half. I`m looking for a setup that is fairly stiff but still has some give, I really dont want a$$ swap ( had an experience with it once and dont want it too happen again) I also ride the lake, but there is another thing we like to jump the pressure cracks. also the sway bar is removed which I have never rode a sled de-swaybared so I really dont know what too expect as far as body roll and and how hard I should expect too lean? will there be excessive inside ski lift? it would be greatly appreciated if any one can give me a setup. :cussing: :hallo2:

I was talking with RadChad of why I liked the 2000 & 2001 better than the 99 sled.
The 99 sled I found very choppy at all midrange speeds of 40 to 70mph in short high pitched bumps like washboard that is spread out, or just little whoops. Nice ride when you are hitting the big-a$s stuff as the sled would suck it up well.
To me the low-speed valve stack seemed too stiff for this type of shock movement.

Quotes Rad Chad:
...the shocks were the same from 99 to 01. The way the suspension stroked was different tho.
The 99 had straight rate springs.* 2000 & 2001 used rising rate front springs.

I really liked my 2000 sled as the low-speed valve stack seemed to be softer, but it is a combination of the rising rate springs and the ls-valve stack. With the 2000, I had a nice plush ride for a race sled thru the stuff that I did not care for with the 99.
If I did not like the ride, I just drove faster. lol
The spring rate would increase quickly when you went over big biiIIiig bumps so you would not bottom out.

Mebbe just find out what the springs and the two valve stacks are in the 2001 and I would not doubt if the ride would be better. Since the 99 to 01 rear skids were the same, I do not see why not. I would not be afraid to get the rebound stack slowed down with two of the smallest shims.

For the way I drive, I had to increase the High-speed stack thickness and slow down the rebound stack. I found that when just by slowing down the rebound stack, I got rid of most of the a$s-swap because the suspension does not push back as fast which keeps the track on the ground, longer period of time.
I ended up taking my shocks to a Shock expert about 4 times before I LOVED it. Man I could absolutely pound that sled unbelievable some of the stuff it could take. "Pardon me...comin thru, That's it, move over!"
Unfortunately the more I did the high speed...the low speed valving suffered. So I just got to driving borderline nutbar.
