: Dealer Wont Swap Track
ok, i was just talking to my dealer and they wont swap my 1" lug track for a 1.3" on my new f6. I have been talking to many people who's dealers did this for them. of course it costs extra but i wasnt asking them to do it for free.
i guess i'll have to sell it and buy an aftermarket track.

FishHog 10-15-2003, 12:20 PM You should check with Royal Distributing, they have a track buy back program.
Don't know if its a good deal or not, but might be worth a look.
www.royaldistributing.com

Sounds like it's time to find a new dealer :D
royal doesnt even list a track for the firecats, well i couldnt see one. looks like i got some shopping to do.
alscool 10-15-2003, 01:10 PM is a deeper lug track not desiged for use on the F6 (without mod?)
or they just don't want the business??
Seems strange since they just sold tthe sled new.
catrules2000 10-15-2003, 01:15 PM Dawg, I have had very good luck with Tracks USA. I bought a new 121" x 1.25" 2 years ago and just rescently bought Rail Extensions from them to take my ZR to 136". I am pretty sure it is www.tracksusa.com. My Brother has the 03 F-7 Sno Pro and let me tell you, the 1.3" track would be a very worth while purchase for you!!!
paul yarek 10-15-2003, 02:02 PM Puppy,
you remember that dealer when you go to deal again.
charlo 10-15-2003, 02:22 PM Dawg,
Give PG sports a call in Balmoral 826-1800. Maybe they can help you out. Tell your dealer you'll be taking your business to PG's, should give them a scare.
phazerhater 10-15-2003, 03:49 PM If you don't already have signed papers, look for another dealer. If they want your business, they'll do it.
BTW, weren't you getting a Sabercat or am I dreaming??
charlo, i will getting ahold of PR sports. my brother bought a 2001 zr 800 from him a month ago. hopefully he can help me out.
phazer, its my mom that is getting the sabrecat 600.

Congrats to you and your mom then. :p I think you'd be much happier on the F6 vs. the sabercat anyway.haha Hope you can get everything worked out.
phat_cat800 10-15-2003, 05:36 PM Well Nate if you already haven't done any finaning on the sled then tell them you'll be going elsewhere. When my stepdad had the old zr 600 the track started to rip apart and when he went to trade it in MacLeans was going to make him buy a new track. He wrote Arctic Cat a "delightful" letter and they said that they would pay for half and then Brain MacLean said he'd pay for 1/4 of it. It was still under warrenty. You know what I think of Macleans but don't give up on it and they should swap it, I don't see why not. Though I did get a nice CKX helmet there today.
jtkennedy9 10-15-2003, 08:11 PM Dawg, might want to remind the dealer how much business you and your family do with them. Would be quick to point out the prospect of future business.
Snow-Drift 10-15-2003, 08:25 PM I'm curious if the dealer just doesn't want to do it, or he doesn't know how to do it. Some people have strange ways of getting out of certain situations. Has he done it before in the past? I would say there is some different reason for him not wanting to do it if you have offered to pay him to do it. It is interesting though. I know some dealers won't "pre-season" some older model sleds. It may not be a financial gain for them to be doing it because of the amount of time involved with some machines. I can't blame a business that doesn't want to work on something if it is a losing proposition for them. It's not to say they can't do it, but if people had to pay what they would and probably should charge, people would then be complaining about how much they charged for the service. But I know with my dad's business, he doesn't turn down any work unless he can't do it, which usually is because he doesn't have the equipment for it, and when he can't do it, he'll find somebody for the customer who can do the work. That's a rarity in itself nowadays.
485ccofphazer 10-15-2003, 08:26 PM Yea, some small reminders of what youve bottom there should shake them up!
Good Luck, anyways.
mxzx1 10-16-2003, 12:35 AM There are dealers out there that just do not really care. this time of year they are in the drivers seat. especially with the winters here in new england the past few years....if a dealer treats you wrong, go elsewhere, even if it means you driving a bit farther. eventually you will find a dealer that will treat you fairly and with professionalism and respect. What dealers dont understand is there are usually a group of friends who will eventually hear the story of your bad experience and pass that on to their friends, etc....There are some good dealerships out there, but there are also a ton of wannabee dealerships that try to give the consumer a good deal on a ride and gaff him on parts and accessories to make up for the discount on the sled. Id rather see consistency from a dealer than "killer this week only sales".....lol
konkinj 10-16-2003, 03:58 AM OK Dawg, you said you didn't want the dealer to do it for free, so how much did you offer him to make this swap???
No offence, but a 1 inch track is pretty much not worth anything (even if it is a new one, off a Firecat).
Maybe he didn't want to offend you with a big $$$ price. :)
i have been talking to a few guys who had there dealers do this exact thing. most say around 200 - 250$ cad. i would gladly pay that and my dealer knows it.
Our dealer is the type that if they like you, u can deal with them. if they dont, they can be very errogant. Not the way it should be, and we have a few buddies that just cant deal there because of this. so far, our dealer has used us 110 %. my dad has been buying sleds from them for a several yrs now and i do all my business through them. whenever we get warranty work done, there are no questions asked. most of the time we dont want to be bothered with leaving our sleds at the dealer for a few days to get them fixed because i ride almost everyday. so most of the time, we just take the part off, go show them whats wrong with it and they give us a new one and we take it home and put it on ourselves. beats not having your sled for half a week or a week. this is why i dont want to cancel my deal on my sled and go elsewhere. I am not going to go somewhere else just because they dont want to do this for me. Kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place.
It sounds like your dealer may not be the problem. I know that ski-doo has a track exchange program. At time of purchase, the dealer will remove and replace the track with whatever you like, and return the original track to the factory for credit. I paid $250 to have the .88" replaced with a 1.25" track when I bought my 2001 MXZ 700. I didn't even know about track exchange. The dealer told me about it when I asked him to order a different track to replace that baloney skin. Cat dealers should pressure the factory to begin the same type of program.
dheard4992 10-16-2003, 01:12 PM this is just my .02 cents but im guessing that the dealer didnt want a stock track, who will he sell it to?you mentioned 800 canadian for it and im guessing that he didnt want to insult you with a low offer because unless cat has a exchange program he has to sell it,i had a dealer offer me a new take off last year for 250 in a 121 inch.
konkinj 10-17-2003, 01:57 AM ZOG hit the nail on the head.
Ski-Doo has a good thing going with this program.
X- COUNTRY CAT 10-17-2003, 07:41 PM How come you didn't order it with the sno-pro pkge? then it would come with the 1.3'' inch track.
