Hi, I have just recently started to tinker with my sled, it is a 2002 Mxz 700 with DPM. I started out by reading on how to clean the rave valves, than from there I got all of these ideas. I decided to change my stock reed pedals to boyesen's pedals and to add spacers while I had everything apart to clean the carbs for the snow season comeing up. I also decided to take the head off which is currently at the machine shop getting 10 thousands milled off of it. With these mods i was wondering if I am gonna need to screw around with the clutching (which I have no clue about) and if i need to change the main jets from 520(stock) to 510 or 500? I was also wondering what kind of preformance I will get out of all these mods, I am not expecting much, but im sure there will be some difference. Another thing I am planning on changeing is the airfilter, will this help me any?what is a good brand/type? Thank you for your time,
Tony

You dont need to mess with the clutch, leave the airbox alone, ya could mess with the clutch but not becuase of anything ya already did theres alot of nice set ups for the 700 out there.

try it with what you have done ,,,,,this way you can find out what all the differnt modes has done to your sled some time if it goes bad you can pin point the problem easier and faster...

Olympic2002,
As mentioned above, I would recommend leaving your airbox in place without modifications. The flatslide carbs without hooded needles and your DPM/MPEM are tuned to work with the airbox.
You may be able to jet down slightly with the Boyeson petals, but do this after running your mods with the stock jetting and taking a look at the plugs and wash. A note on Mikuni jetting and your 2002: Your sled's jets should have a "N" suffix. As in 520N, 540N, etc. The Mikuni jet increments above 500 are screwy. In fact the "normal" Mikuni 520 actually flows somewhere between 490 and 500. So be careful with your jetting changes. I think a 520N is supposed to be something like the equivalent of a 560 if stepping up in the typical increments of 10. SnowTech had a good explanation of this in a past issue.
Hope this helps,
