I am looking at a 1994 Indy 500 EFI. How are these sleds as far as the fuel injection? I used to drive Skidoo Formula's with Carb?
Does anyone have any info on good or bad with a 1994 500 EFI.

Thanks Dave

friend of mine has a 95 500 efi sks. it blew up twice because the efi went wacky. one cylinder went lean and it cooked the piston... but the sled was all messed up when he got it, so i do not know how well other polaris efi sleds work.
either way, he finally got the sled working right and it is extremely fast. it can almost keep up with my 670 'doo up to 40 or so. its a nice motor, he gets decent fuel economy with it. i don't know what sled you are looking at exactly, but his has the heat exchangers on the floor boards... they are really nice for keeping your feet warm... they really do work well. the engine has a problem with overheating sometimes though, because the snow does not get up on the exchangers as well as it does with one under the track.

all that being said, i would not stay away from this sled if it is well taken care of. I would get a set of EGT gauges so you know if the thing is going to go nuclear, but all in all it is a nice package. just a random piece of info... the motor is actually only 488 cc's, i think it is the same motor as the 488 fan. not sure on that though.

hope this helps!

I've got a 1996 500 EFI. I think it is great. Never had a problem with it--the only thing wrong with Pol's efi is that it uses a battery, so you GOTTA keep an eye on your battery--if it goes kaput, your stuck. I'm a bigger guy (270) so everyone told me that I need at least a 600cc sled. The 500 tops out almost at 89-90. For me, that's fast enough, besides i can keep up on the trails no problem--once i hit 50mph is when my brothers give me trouble!! I will only buy EFI. I laugh at my brothers when it's -20 and there sleds flood out. One pull to prime and on epull to get 'er going---EVERYTIME. It really does not matter what you buy, anything can turn out to be a lemon. Every manufacturer makes crap and good stuff. It's all personal preference. If it looks well taken care of and the miles are not incredibly high-go for it.

Let it snow!
