Hi there. I'm building an improver out of a 94 Mach Z. I need to know where a good starting point is for the carbs. Currently I have 45 pilots, 400 mains. Should I go up or down before I fire it up later this week? I have full porting, custom head with inserts to run on 114 only, V-force 3 reeds, custom pipes, no oil injection. Elevation 600 feet. Any ideas?

I would start with 430 Mains...pilot air screws open 3/4 of a turn...45 pilots...set timing @ 85-87 thousands BTDC this timing is retarded from the stock setting and will put a little more heat into the pipe...this will work with a gutted air box...if you are using different air filters you may want to jet up a little richer 450's or 460's...I don't know how much compression you have or how you set the parameters when the motor comes on to the pipe....hope this helps, Al :)
