Hi guys......just wondering what anyone thought about this clutch setup I want to try for snowcross this year. The sled is a 2003 REV 440. This is what i will try:

Primary- Ski-Doo black/pink spring
- TRA position 5
- 296 ramps
- 10.5 gram weights

Secondary - Ski-Doo beige spring
- 21 lbs. pull
- helix will be a custom cut 52-48-44

How does this sound?

If DYnamo Joe doen't see this and respond PM him and I'm sure he'll give you the low down. He's the one with the killer 440 setup.

Pink spring.....ok in my opinion.

What do you have in mind for jetting?...gearing?...fuel?

The jetting I am going to run will be whatever the temps will call for. Gearing is going to be 20-43 or 19-43, and fuel is going to be Shell 112 Octane pre-mixed with Klotz sythetic oil @ 20:1.

More questions:
1]Where do you get Shell 112 Octane in Canada?
2]Who are you buying this from?
3]Why Klotz 20:1? ....especially when it's synthetic and choosing this ratio

btw....im not trying to be a smartass here. Just trying to see what you know. :)

Thats a lotta helix, and not much pin, my next testing session I`m trying something remotely similar but with different ramps but I`m drag racing, . The whole little pin, big helix thing hasent worked for me but theres people dooin it, and dooin it well.

for sno-x application you can use a lot bigger start angle than 52 when the engine is jetted and clutched properly.
In fact you would shake your head at what a 440 can take for sno-x with an aggressive driver.

i think joe is up to usual tactics of trying to make sledder think and have reason before making changes.

Getting the fuel from Edward's Fuels in Goderich Ontario. (Shell Distributor)
As for the fuel/oil ratio, that is what I ran last year in my 2001. It has been proven that more oil=better lubrication=less friction=more compression also=more HP. As long as you can keep it from fouling up, which I have been lucky never to have a problem with you are okay. She may smoke a little bit more but I seem to pull better than all the others.

I know that you can use a higher helix to start, but my 2001 I only used my straight 44 and I know some guys last year actually went back to that on the 2003 REV 440. I still have the 2001, so I may swap secondarys, see how much of a difference the two make at the start and work from there. As for the 10.5 gram pins.....I was chatting with the boys from Goodwin.....and this is what they use in their kit. I will try and see what happens with it. I can always go back to what I started with though.
