Not to mention the extra noise...not a good idea for most of us.

Leave the stock air box on!!! Or get an after market better flow one.

You will get LESS restriction meaning you will have jet up or risk a burn down. For the average trail rider this is a pain because the engine will become more sensitive to air temps plus if you like riding in powder then it's not good because k&n's don't like snow and ya it will sound like a pitbull with a bad flem problem.

K&N filters don't usually flow any more air. they cause the fuel flow to drop there is a tech explanation I'm not going into but if you do you use K&N's you probably will be chasing jetting all year, (and buying a few pistons and cyclinders) IT AIN'T WORTH IT. Your jetting may be off in the mid-range also and engines burn down at part throttle too.

the aftermarket airboxes are a joke. unless you modded to the hilt, a stock airbox is better than anything. you may look into tuning your stock airbox. alot of technology is in that there airbox. i laugh when people say "gutted airbox" and the rest of the motor is stock. so i grin and say "man i bet that helps alot, want to race?" ps k+n are more restrictive than your stock system and most other air filters. if you want flow buy the cheapest air filter you can find. it will be the least restrictive. IMO mike

Please go into it. That is what this section is for. If you have or know the tech info, I would very much like to see it.
