The snowmobileworld admin has the rights to the domain atvworld.net.....therefore, hopefully they will create a sister site for the subject of atvs...

I think that it would be a good idea to have an ATV section on this site. That way they are keeping thair members loged on to this site. The web site atvtimes.com looks preaty established and would be hard to compete with, just like if they started up an sled site they would have a hard time getting members because they are all here. My main intrest is sledding but would like to see the odd ATV post when I log in here.

I would love to see a ATV board that had the same quality as this board. *I've visited many of them, and don't think the are anywhere near this board.

I have an 83 Honda ATC 200X that I ride a couple of times a year. I don't get really excited about riding it like I do when I'm waiting for the snowmobile season to start.

If the ATV riders want a site they should let their feelings be known and a separate site can be started.

if atver and snowmobilers do not work together it is harder for each group to fight the tree huggers who want to keep motorized recreation out of the areas we like to ride.

I'd be in for an atv site. I got my first atc ('85 Honda 200x), which my father gave me last summer (because it had a flat tire and he didn't use it anymore) that I immediately took apart the engine, did a little porting, bought a DG pipe with adjustable backpressure (discs), added a K&N air filter, jetted up, and installed two new rear tires. What I would like to learn from other atver's, would be how to ride without getting hurt. On my third ride with the bike (in a sand pit), my right foot hooked a piece of steel strapping which also caught my rear wheel and tore my foot off (95% amputated) and wrapped it around the rear axle. I've since made a good recovery (thankfully with my own foot and not a prosthetic) and plan on driving the bike in the same sandpit this summer. Would be good to read about tips, tricks and habits other atver's have for riding safely.

What I do with any ATV with open foot wells, is install Nerf Bars! Most are under $140. Most people are hurt when a leg comes off the peg, then when it gets near the rear tire it pulls you off.
It's a good idea to have them, if you can't buy them, make something to block a leg or foot from going past the rear fenders.

i had a 200x also. You probably have the rubber foot pegs ? the problem is the end part breaks and you foot always falls of the peg! Listen to toydoc, he knows what he is taking about. I have since replaced my bent foot peg (it is all steel on mine), and made myself a small brush guard in front of my feet (see pic.). It looks a little funny, but not as funny as when my foot was just hanging there by a little skin. I did check around online for a nerf bar, but couldn't find any for a 200X. I never really thought about behind my foot, which is actually what did the damage. I will try and make something for that. I will also be using motocross boots this summer instead of just work boots. The best thing would be to buy a 4-wheeler, but money is a problem there. Thanks for the info. guys !
