Hey all, I dont know much about the 97 XC 600's, but I know the XCR 600 tripples of 95 and 96 had crank problems. My brother is curently looking for a sled to buy and has around a $2000 budget to spend. I saw a clean 97 XC 600 this wkend with 3400 miles on it for $1999. Is this a good deal? The 98's go for around 2600-2800 around here. Did this sled have the same crank probs as the other tripples? I have a 98 XC 600 and it runs like a dream, are the 97's good also? If some of you all can give me some input it would greatly appreciate it. Thanks all!

I have a buddy with anXCR 600. He's had it rebuilt twice. They finally drilled a little hole in the crank to let the oil in. I haven't heard of anything like that after 96. I believe they fixed that problem. No recall for anything before though.

A buddy of mine had a 97 xc 600. Great handling sled as well as top end. once in a while we would swap, 97 mxz 670. That sled was a better cornering sled but I felt it had not bottomend or mid range. He had about 3500 miles and no problems. The engine was very smooth. The 98's are faster but if you like triples go with the 97.
