We just bought our first polaris, it is a 1996 XLT 600 and i am wondering how it handles on trails 70-75 mph. I dont want to go out and expect the unexpected.

Thanks.

Probably best not to tell you. That way you'll have to cool it til you find out on your own. Heard way too many stories about the guys winding up on their head with less than a hundred miles on their brand new sled...

Seriously though, there was a good reason so many of them were sold.

Why did you repost this same question? I posted a response, go to page 2 and look for your previous post.

My wife has a 96 XLT SP and she LOVES it!! I have personally had it up around 100 (very stupid) and it didn't mind at all. VERY comfortable around 60 or 70. This sled is very soft and easy on the rider, wouldn't do any ditch bangin' or sno cross with it as the XTRA-12 wasn't designed for that purpose.

Very smooth motor... I think highly of the Fuji triples personally. It seems no matter what speed your traveling there is always great acceleration if you desire. I think you'll be happy with the sled. Be sure to check the needles and their seats as they have a tendency to leak fuel (see previous posts) which causes hard starting and flooding.

Think snow!! Won't be long now!!!

Guy I knew had an XLT for one year, nexy year he was on a ZRT 600. He said the sled was resonable but for a 600 triple didnt have as much go as a zert or F-III. He was hard rider and said the suspention wasnt doing it for him for his style of riding. oftern complained of high center of gravity seat position. He did give the sled to his wife and she loved it, its a comfortable cruising seld apparently but wasnt meant to race. For that they had the XCR (I think) 600 triple. All depends on what you use the sled for.
