I will be staying south of Interlochen, on Bass Lake (the one east of Green Lake). Just wondered if someone could give me a little information on that trail system. We are renting a cabin and I would like to know if I need to trailer to a parking lot, or if road riding is O.K. to get to the trail.

This will get you an oversite on the local trail system.

Just click on the Area by Traverse City, then click on the various towns in the area to get a better map.
Not exactly sure if this is gonna help you. But when you get to the area get a local trail map and definatly ask the locals about riding on the roads. Riding in the Ditch is OK but it is against the law to ride on the shoulder of any State Highway (US31, M37,etc.)
Loads of great trails up there.
Hope this helps.

I live maybe 5 miles from interlochen. There really isn't much in the line of state maked and groomed trails that way that i know of but i don't have a map handy. When i ride anywhere we just ride the ditches. They are pretty heavily traveled. As for the closer to benzie i can tell you much because we usually go east. i ill try to dig up my map and see what they have marked down.

OK, Thanks. The place we are staying at is called Judy's Place. It looks like all back roads on my map. Looks like we could ride to Rhodes Rd., then to Reynolds, and South to the trail. Just wondering if some of the populated area's like Bendon and Karlin are snowmobile friendly. Thanks again, Butch.

Dude, Karlin consists of an antique store and Karlin Grocery Store (BTW Phenominal Jerky there, Beef, Elk, Buffalo, Turkey and smoked fish all VERY good worth a stop!!). Most everywhere up here is cool with snowmobilers, unless its a 3 am! Interlochen is only remotely populated outside of the US 31 intersection.
Watch out for the Cops on Sleds! & if you Tip a few (beers) if you blow above a .08bac you will loose your DL! Ride Safe
