Well, I decided i want more ski lift on my sled for the ditches and powder since the dang thing sits so low. I know taking the front limiter straps out/loosening them will do it for me. I am wondering if i can just go under my sled with a ratchet and undo the bolts without taking the skid frame off. How hard is it to put back on if i don't like the results.
Any answers or extra info would be greatly appreciated.
THanks

yah, you can just unbolt it and take the strap off. no need to take the skid out. i do not know if it is on its loosest setting, but if it is not try loosing it up. if you take it off, you are not going to get good handeling on the trails. the back end will be very floaty and you will have bad understeer in the corners.

i loosened my strap and if u go around a corner and pin it u get major inside ski lift. u can just unbolt it without removing the whole skid, and u can just put it back again if u dont like it. with it removed u will wear your sliders faster.

I have also been thinking about this. How would the steering be (have brand new 4 in. carbides on skis) if i loosened it up to the loosest setting and how much faster will my slides wear out (might replace them before season starts)? This is on a 88' Indy 400. Travis

On some sleds you can't just take the straps off because then your front shock will extend to far and could be damaged.

I hope i can loosen it right off. I would love to walk the damn thing all over.

About the only way to tell for sure that I can think off is to take the skid out and then watch how far out the shock extends after you remove the straps. If the piston on the shock comes to full extention and is holding the suspension the way the straps were supposed to then the shock will be damaged quickly. In other words don't make the shock do the work that the straps were designed to.

well, i just loosened the straps to the loosest setting. If the straps are still on the shock should be ok, hey? Or why would they leave them that long.
