I'm waiting for delivery of my GSX Sport 600 and am planning to mount a handheld GPS unit to it (Magellan Meridian Platinum). Question: Should I hardwire the DC leads or install a cigarette lighter type DC receptacle on the sled? Magellan makes either type of connector for this GPS unit. Thanks.

The GSX has a 12 volt acc. outlet listed as standard equipment.

The dealer is suppose to install it.

When we picked up my wifes GSX it didn't have the outlet, so she call SKI-DOO and was told by customer service that yes it is standard, and the dealer is to install it.

Before picking up make sure it is installed!

Thanks for the heads up on the 12v dc being standard. I looked at the Bombardier website and couldn't find it listed under the specs for the 2004 GSX....where did you see it?

From SKI-DOO's web site:

The GSX starts with the raw power and trigger fired performance of its brother, the MX Z. Then it incorporates the finer things found on the most sophisticated snowmobiles. Making it the machine of choice for those who like a little classical mixed in with their rock ‘n roll. At the heart of the performance side of the GSX is the new REV-X chassis. Its reinvented ergonomics and centralized mass, along with an extremely lightweight design deliver control beyond compare. While the impressively efficient SC-10 III rear suspension makes trail annoyances disappear right below your feet.

Under the hood, you’ve got the choice of the powerful Rotax 500 S.S., the mighty 600 H.O., the performance of the new fuel efficient performance 2-Tec 600 H.O SDI, or the nastiest of them all, the 800 H.O. engine. But when it comes to amenities no other sled comes close. The advanced HPG-VR shock is calibrated for the most enjoyable experience. Even on the groomer’s day off. Other conveniences such as Rotax Electronic Reverse (RER), high windshield, electric start and a power outlet are standard. What’s more, the GSX is the only short track sled on the market that offers an integrated bag on the tunnel with plenty of storage capacity for your longer rides.

It is also listed in their brochure's.

Hope this helps.

The RCA heated visor outlet is standard and I think that is what Ski-Doo info is referring to (I think its misleading, though). The 12v cigarette lighter outlet is only standard on the Limited, not the Sport. I guess it depends on how the wire connects to the GPS unit, if it is semi-permant or just unplugs. If it is semi-permant (clamped or screwed on), I'd hookup the GPS with the DC outlet, not hard wired. That way, you can take it off when you go in for lunch break, if you have to.

Warning!, DONOT hook up the the heated visor outlet plug. Thats AC voltage. You'll need to connect directly to the battery with a fuse to get 12v DC for your GPS.

The 12v accessory (cigarette lighter) outlet is standard on all GSX models,
as per conversations with SKI-DOO.
