hello everyone I just registered here and need some info. My grandpa bought an old suzuki snowmobile at an auction here in Oklahoma several years ago. He took it to Gunnison CO where my aunt lives he thought he might use it elk hunting but it just sat for about 6 years. Now I have it back in Ok and I am trying to get it going again. It says Suzuki xr400 on the seat the front is red and the body is silver or gray. I only found 1 pic on the web that was possibly a 73-74 and looked very similar. How can I get the year model and other info.

is there a serial # of any kind somewhere on the sled? anyway of showing us a picture of it might help as well.

model - sm21
engine type - sm20 395 cc
body # - sm21 13237
engine # - sm20 20570

and found this # 01960514 stamped near the headlight.

Try looking on the tunnel. Many times they will have a manufacturer date on it. Also have seen them near the recoil too. Check and see.

That is a 1974....I have one in the barn also a 73 that is blue....cannot find seals for the engine though, so if you do let me know...someday it will be back in the shop for a restore. (the 73 was my first new sled)...good luck

For what it's worth,there's one of those motors on e-bay now in snowmobile parts.
