Just bought a new sled with an unpainted aluminum tunnel. Any suggestions on how to keep it looking good? I don't want to polish it out just keep it from tarnishing and getting spotty.

Mother's Aluminum Polish works great.

by the looks of your signature you got a REV  congratulations. just use a liquid compound and i say "liquid" for a reason because it is less gritty. some people will say autosol in a tube and it is great too.

Is Mother's Liquid or paste or both?

Mother's is paste.

I am just about go have a go at my REV with it as soon as I get it back together.

I used Mother's on the motor in my XLT as it was an unpainted one ,it was aluminum and when you opened the hood it would blind you.
had many compliments on that motor and mother's is userfriendly also.
GOOD STUFF. :)

Mothers and a lot of elbow grease.

A coat of wax will keep it looking good longer. If you dont want the polished finish, just a coat of wax, will keep it from tarnishing.

Buy some Mother's Aluminum Polish and a box of rags. I usually remove the seat and fuel tank and dab the paste on the tunnel. Buff it in until the paste turns black. With a clean rag, buff in a circular motion until the paste is gone. Then I use a third rag (try to find a nice soft one) to get the final shine. If your tunnel hasn't ever been polished, it will take you an afternoon...you may want to do a couple of applications. Do the pipe and can, too.

Mothers Aluminum polish and lots of elbow grease..........the more you polish the shinier it gets.

Thanks!

For a three year old, 6200 km sled, it looks pretty good. Still hasn't gotten the first scratch (knock on wood).

Yep, Canadian Tire carrys it, along with most auto parts stores.

They are calling for a storm here, but other than winds like you can't believe, we haven't had anything yet.

Wal-Mart also carries Mothers in Ontario as well... I think it's cheaper there than Canadian Tire.

man zog I hate to hear you say that you know now you are screwed!! That is a great shine you have there. I know it takes alot of work to keep it that way but when you step back and see it man oh man is it worth it. NICE job!!

silicone spray works nice on the suspension and rails. I spray all the underpinnings down regularly, and they still look new. The stuff dries to a slippery invisible film.
Doesn't cover that crack in my bellypan, though!

I've used Mothers,Duragloss and several other polishes but I think Wizards works the best for me. Just tear a piece off and go to town, I seem to get a deeper shine more quickly with less effort, plus you use alot less rags. If I had a digital camera I'd love to show some pics  ,maybe some other time.
