i just got out my sled and was riding it for about 5min and it fouled a plug so i changed the plugs and took it back out and once again it fouled the plugs. it did this once more before i got mad and put it up and came to ask you guys whats wrong. do you think it could be jetting? right now its 280 main and stock pilot. the time i was riding was about 20 min at the most. thanks

If compression's okay I'd do a spark test for piece of mind, then concentrate on the jetting/temperature relationship. Man, you're riding already, luck b#stard :D

My sled did the same thing, and then it blew up :cussing: Then oil pump bearing, and center crank seals went...... 1070 miles. So check everything. Is it smoking alot?

Thanks, Ian

What sled is it? It sounds like a 99 440 with the 280's. Did you wash the engine compartment lately? That would happen to mine after I did that. If it's the 440, drop the needle one clip and it should help too. If that doesn't doo it then put in a 22.5 pilot. I did all these things to my 2000 and it stopped fouling plugs. The 280's are good. That's what we run here all year around with no probs.

oooops, I see in your signature it's the 440. Also, is there new gas and oil in it or is it last years crap?

I would start simple . Make sure your chokes are not getting hung-up. This happened to me a few years ago.

dont believe there's a choke, just a primer. like chad said 280's wont be the problem. i ran them all last year on my 99' mxzx 440. a friend of mine's sled had a blown out base gasket and he had the same problem. (800 tho) maybe that's it??

Is it just happening just to one side or both? Pull your carbs off and check for junk in the bowl or your needle and seat. I had a bad needle and seat in one that would foul. Worth a check. -Grover :D

Choke?.....on a ski-doo???
When was the last time a ski-doo "sport" sled had a choke?

When was the last time the carbs were cleaned?
Could it be a pilot partially plugged so another circuit is working to load the engine with fuel?
.....possible bad float seat, or dirty float like Grover mentioned.

if your pull cord is short that could be a probelm to

so i droped the needle one clip and that didnt do it so i cleaned the carbs and that made it run for more than 5 min but it still fouled them after like 20 min. i called the place that i bought it from and they said it was cause i mixed it 32-1 instead of 40-1 but this didnt sould right to me at all. could that be it? also they said they ran bombi oil and im running klotz and that might do it but i definently dont believe that. thanks for the help

Don't rule out a problem with the plugs themselves. I've seen numerous different sleds foul one plug after another and after changing them repeatedly, with new ones each time, the problem goes away and not a plug to be fouled, ya I know this sounds stupid but it has happened. I've seen NGK's that won't work right out of the box after a few mins of running

Try running a NGK Br9 eya plug.
