hi all well the snow is coming i have a ? i need to clean the clutches and i dont have the tools to pull them and break them down can i clean them up some by spraying brake clean in them and then blow them out i know the best way is to pull them but will this work for a quick clean up without the the pain of pulling them i dont want to buy the tools for these sleds (pullers) cause were going to buy revs in the near future then ill buy the tools to doo it the right way for them

I would just use compressed air to blow stuff out, i don't think the chemicals in brake parts cleaner or carb cleaner is good for bushings and stuff in clutches,,, however the driven is very easy to take off and take apart and clean... imo....

Nope don't doo that. I strongely recommend against it. There's no way you can get it cleaned properly. Besides by tearing them down you can inspect them properly and maybe catch a problem that would have otherwise left you stranded on the trail. Btw what machine are we talking about, the puller tools are not that overly pricey or you maybe can borrow one.

I agree with formlaman,,,,a puller isnt much more than 30$ through dennis kirk and that 30$ sure beats sitting along side the trail waiting for the trailer,,,,,
I did once have a john deere trailfire that I had got a bolt that fit the threads of the clutch, then a smaller (high grade) bolt to put inside and it was my own make shift clutch puller,,,,,
It worked fine for me but make sure you are using a high grade bolt on the inside,,,,,if you use a cheapie,,,it could bend and then you have a heck of a mess

break cleaner is a bad idea. just use soapy water and a corse pad. and not a wire pad either.

We used engine degreaser and high pressure water from a car wash to clean our clutches. Works 100 %.
