Hey guys..interested in hearing your stories, so please be truthful. Anybody out there race a stock polaris or rev 800 with their stock ar 800s and 900s? Even if you won, I want to know how close it was and what the conditions were etc. Thanks. Doing some shopping and am curious as to real world.

My brother owns an 03 XC-800 with very low miles, I was riding my 02 ZR-800 with just under 9000 miles at the time, each and every time we raced I flat out killed him. Rolling starts or standing starts it was always the same.
I honestly figured that he would / should have beat me. This was even after jetting and needle updates...........whats up?

I have an 02 ZR 800 and my budy has an 02 XC 800. We used to race all the time and we were pretty much even. But by us being even, I'm sure if we switched sleds, the Cat would win. I've got about 80 lbs on him. So I say stick with the Cat.

Rocketman,

I have a buddy with a 02 MXZ700 that for some reason was killing ALL kinds of sleds last year. It was pretty much stock. I watched him beat a ZR800, XC800, and an 01 MXZ800. I have no idea why this thing was so fast. Certainly shouldn't have beat those 3.

Another buddy bought a 03 MXZ600 HO REV last year. A 02 ZR600 killed that thing (about 5MPH on the top) time after time.

I'm not sure whether this helps at all. At least it's the truth. I ride a Yammie, I have no interest in lying about a Ski-doo or a Cat.

I have a 03 zr-900 thats not stock, but far from modded. I never ran a xc-800, but I've run a number of revs and as strong as they are doing short runs in grass events they are no match for the 9 out on the lake.... period!!!

Basically I am looking at either a ZR 900, rev 800, or Polaris XC or ProX 800

Pretty hard to beat a ZR-900 for performance / mileage / comfort and reliability. However the graphics on the 04's leave much to be disired, at least IMHO.
Nice sleds whichever one you choose.

If you are strictly looking at racing I would have to say prolly go cat, but from everyone I have talked to, If you can afford a Rev, get it, the ride is unbelievable, and on tight twisties you will leave your friends in the dust.

GO with the ZR9 period.

It's a proven sled, and I don't think you can find one negative posting on it anywhere.

...and if that's you in the avatar Rocketman, you look like you need a machine that can carry you properly. ZR9 out.
