Ben,

No idea about your handwarmer sitiuation - I've got a completely off-topic question. Why did you buy a Mountain Max?? I wouldn't think that the riding in Southern Ontario would warrant a deep powder sled. As a matter of fact, I've never even seen a Mountain Max around here. Where did you find it?

Hopefully it works well for you, keep praying for snow!!

Try tracing the wiring. You might be able to find a broken wire or a solder point loose.

Good question on the why? Are you going to the mountains with it?

hey guys
funny question actually, i get that one often but they don't usually ask it that nicely ahah, no i got a mountian max becuase im all about the off trail deeper snow, i picked up a new track at royal distributings tent sale for 600 bucks and clipped the lugs to 1 3/8 tall, they don't break on the gravel and grass and through the sticks and stumps of the bush with that 2 inches of snow we got so it should be allright on the trails this winter. so back to why i got it, my good buddy is from newfoundland so we go there and my aunt and uncle live in kelowna bc and we usually go up to cochrane and shining tree, and i really just love doing sweet jet turns, the zr i used to have just didn't do quite what i wanted it to. so thats my story, i hope it makes sense i was typing faster then i could think.

Winter is soon

Holy Smokes!! You must have been thinking pretty fast - you got all that into one sentence!!

I was just curious, seems like long tracks and deep lugs are back in fashion anyways. I love carving through the deep powder - not so sure how my new ride is going to like that. I know I'm not going to enjoy digging it out if I do get her stuck!!

Enjoy that machine, hopefully you'll get to put some miles on it soon! :christmas:

hey how do you like your srx? my buddy from the rock has a 2001 srx but we've done a little modifying, it has a moutain max rear skid with a 144 X 1.5 lug it looks pretty amazing, it has mountain max clutching also, last winter when his was stock we did a few things, like the front w arm, those crack really easy on the srx's if rode hard. just something to check and the bolt that holds on the water impellor, yamaha uses a stupid little rubber washer type thing on it, when it dries out and shrinks the bolt loosens itself through the water pump casings, just something to check if you didn't already know. we have been right into the srx's since 1998 and those are the only major problems we've come across.

I'm actually a 'new' Yamaha rider myself, the furthest I've driven my SRX is up my driveway, when I brought it home a couple weeks ago. I was REAL tempted to take it out for a little rip when we got that snow a week and a half ago, but I restrained myself. So, no opinions as yet. A guy I ride with has an 01' SRX as well, I've ridden it a few times. Loved the motor - found the ride a little harsh, but nothing I can't live with. You really can't get a good impression of a machine until you get a few hundred km's on it. I'm sure to post my impressions after the season officially starts. But, I think I'm going to like it.

Thanks for the tips regarding the w-arms and water pump. I'd heard about the w-arms cracking, but not the water pump. Has anyone else seen this?

Hopefully it was worth the drive!

Hey Ben,
Do you do much riding around Kitchener? I live in town in Waterloo and ride out of St. Agatha almost everday during the winter. The new dundee sc trails and st clements trails are great riding(not much offtrail for your mountain max though :p ). There's getting to be a fair number of people from our area on this board we should try all try to hook up for a ride somtime this winter. New dundee sc also has a new weboard up thats almost all local riders (http://www.newdundeesc.com/phpBB2/index.php)
