after putting my sled away last year now it will not start. i have a hard time when to use the primer and when not to use the primer usually ends up flooding out. this year it will not start at all. checked for spark and it dose! any pointers would be helpful.

I take it this is a rotary valve Skidoo engine?? (probably around mid-90's?) These have always been really picky when it comes to how much to prime them to get it going.

I had a 92' Mach 1, w/ 617 rotary valve engine. I had to prime it 3.5 times, leave the primer out, hold the throttle open and pray that it would fire on the first pull. Otherwise, it was ALWAYS at least a half hour of tugging the cord before it would eventually decide to come to life.

I think all of the Skidoo faithful are happy that they switched to reed-cage engines.

On my 97 670, when you felt the primer start pumping fuel, it was 1.5 to
2 times max. After that, it would flood and you would pull for a while
with the throttle wide open.

Actually, I liked the primer. I found it easier to start than these finnicky
800's (when the 800's are warm)..
