All:

My 95 Formula Z 583 will not idle at all. After starting the sled for the first time this year, It wouldnt idle. Usually I have to Hit the primer one or two times and I am ready to go. I must have had to hit the primer 30-40 times and then it flooded. I also noticed some gas spray coming from the primer. Any help would be appreciated. My sled also has a tough time restarting after it is warm. Could these two problems be related.

I tried new plugs and still nothing. I am thinking of bringing in the sled anyway, but would first like to see if I can get a ride or two in.

Thanks
Scott

Pull the carbs apart and clean them. The pilot jets are probably plugged with green death.

I just started mine as well this week-end for the first time. 96 STX583.
When it didn't idle, unless I gave it a shot with the primer. I figured I'd pull the carbs.
They where real dirty inside, green gunky rusty, just horrible. I can only blame my self, as I just drove her into the garage at the end of last season, and didn't do anything to prep her for the summer :( bought a new house was moving, just forgotten about.

Anyways, after I cleaned the carbs up, it still didn't idle to well? Pulled the airbox off again, started her up and turned the idle up to rev much too high, but I figured I'd get all that old gas out of the lines, after 10 minutes of reving at about 2500RPM, I turned the idle back down and she runs like a charm?

Worked for me :)
