I have tried and tried to be involved with he snowmobile club I attent.
I go to meetings I offer my services (but have to have more than a nights notice) for staking trails signage ect.
I even gave free products to the dance.
I get my newsletter today and they listed sponsors that donated stuff to be given away , And low and behold I dont even see my shop name.
Now Im not looking for anything special but a thanks would have been great.

I have tried very hard to fit in here but I guess they have their little in group and Im not ( In).

IndySKS dont bother contacting anyone on this I am gonna disassosiate myself from this club and move onto another.
I am sure ST Clements could use someone with a strong back and input on subjects.
Scott

Sorry guys had to vent.

:( That's a shame. It's not like good volunteers are in abundance. You have every right to be a little upset. Sounds like they are losing a valuable asset.

Thats a crappy deal man. I would be going someplace else. I am not involved in my sled club though i have been invited to be. I just don't have the time right now, i have school and a job which i am hoping to get around 40 hours a week, thats all after school hours and weekends.

I just realized WHEN AM I GONNA RIDE???

That sucks. Nothing like a genuine effort going unappreciated. I think we all know the feeling of trying to get involved in something where there is an established 'clique' involved :cussing: . Just remember that THEY are the ones who are missing out and that they obviously never deserved you in the first place. Move on to someplace else that does appreciate your efforts. Best of luck.

Like Groucho Marx once said, "I wouldn't join a club that would have me as a member." :D

Their loss is another club's gain.

Hey 800xRev,
I believe I am familar with the club you are mentioning :slick: and if you are looking for a good club to join where you can get involved and be heard you should start coming to the New Dundee Snowmobile Club meetings. There is a few members from K-W, including myself. Next meeting is Dec. 10 I believe, but check the website www.newdundeesc.com. Oh ya and we got nice hats made too... :christmas:

I will never understand a club that doeas this. I have a friend that joined a club near cobourg, and had the same problem. If u weren't a part of there click then u were treated like crap.
I was under the impression the clubs needed members to help support the cause not to have a place for a group of friends only to be welcome at the club.

Sounds kinda like a club I belonged too. I have stopped attending any club meetings in my area. Every one I went too turned into an argument of one petty nature or another amongst the club officers. I even tryed to offer my time driving one of the tundra's with a drag to help groom some of the smaller trails. They have one good one with hydrolics and one old relic that requires a gorilla to operate. The night before the groomer training, one of the officers that the world revolves around found out about the training, then goes to the garage and drives off with the good groomer that we were supposed to be trained on. Due to some disagreement within the club officials about something, he took the groomer hostage......he wasnt grooming, he hid it. That was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

Then there were the many times were the club officials would arrange a trail clean up party. Alot of times the newer members would be so excitided about helping that they would get a good group together. 2 times that I know of the so called officials of the club were no-shows, so all you had was a bunch of new folks showing up and hanging out and then leaving quite po'd.....most never returning either.

It makes ya wonder!

Hey, that sounds like the Port Perry club!!
I use to Warden every year... but the pres. is a jerk, his brother is on the board as well... and unless your buddy buddy with them, they don't care! Offer to help the old boys clear trails... "nope, we have a crew".
Fine... be that way! lol
Thinking about joining Twin Mountains... have a blast on their trail system every year, might as well help out!

Scott cut that non appreciative club loose and find a club that deserves your volunteer time.

WOW! This is the first I have heard of clubs doing this, but it sounds like it happens all over the place. I guess the clubs can't complain about not having enough volunteers if they treat people like that. :(

Thanks everybody I actually expected to come in this morn and see people saying to stop whining and get back to the club.
I thought it was just me , but it looks like its all over as well.
I will attend the New Dundee club meeting to see if its for me.
I will also be joining the St Clement club, as I advertise in thier clubhouse with a sign I had made up.
They jumped at the oportunity for the sign and allway say hi when we go there for wing nites, as well they call us before to remind us of wing nites.
Now that is service at its best.

Personally I think the other club doesnt let me in as I dont live out in the sticks like they do, every one of them.

Thanks for all the support I appreiciate it.
Scott

I here ya'. Clubs around by me are the same way. You try to fit in, but I am younger and they don't treat you like one of the guys. They have their tight click and don't want to be interupted. I can just go and ride on my own and with my buddies I guess. Just would like to share the experience with others and help keep the trails up and running in good shape.

Wow. That sounds like you are describing the club that I belong to here in Iowa. I have attended several meetings and maybe ONCE has someone even attempted to speak to me. I was about to tell them to go to hell, but did not since my $30 annual dues contributes to the local trail system. I've been a member now for three years and nothing has changed. It just ticks me off.

Same here!!! The last "Club" meeting consisted of some jacka$$ whining about being reimbursed for $1.30 for cable ties he had to provide to rehang a sign. I could hardly believe it! The only thing that got accomplished was a free dinner and drinks for members that showed. Paid for by club dues.. No More.

ROB,
i've known all but one or two of those guys on the BASC committee for my whole life, real great guys. i have asked about some staking and whatever just no politics, they seem to do it on their own time because they farm and use their own equipment during the trail marking process.

I put trails in for the local club and didn't find out until a couple months after when I rode the section I put in that it was redone in one area because I marked it in the wrong feild, I figured I would wait and see if anyone was going to inform me and no one did. I also was asked to become a Warden so I took the training and never heard from again until they wanted to sell me a new jacket. Needless to say i am no longer a Warden, and the club has decided to contract out the complete trail signage to a couple of individuals. I am currently awaiting the phone call to buy my pass because the club desperately needs my support.

I know how you feel, Dude - I live on the edge of two clubs and the last three years have offered my services for anything - signage, trail clearing, financial assistance (I am an accountant), whatever they need. To both clubs.

Not once has anyone ever contacted me. And each year, their newsletters come out and they are crying for volunteers! Gets a little infuriating - I want to get involved and help out but can't seem to manage it....

When we used to cottage in the Northbrook/Cloyne area i used to volunteer for the Mazinaw Powerline SC. They are a well organized group. I left my name and # with then in june and got a call in Sept. informing me of a work weekend in mid Oct. Always a good time with lots of sledding stories and a dinner at the end of the day :D
