Does the oil pump on the 97 and new polaris triples default to the full on when a cable breaks like on the twins????

:withstupid: I'd have to agree. All the Fuji motors that I have seen would have the pump off if the cable was to break somehow.

Has anyone ever seen one of these cables actually break with the sled was in use? I can't imagine that happening.

Mine broke too! I had just purchased my sled, a 2000 indy700 sks. I didn't know jack about snowmobiles at the time. I was out for the second or third ride and didn't know anything was wrong. The sled was really boggy at slow speeds but woke up when I opened the throttle. A friend of mine who knew alot about sleds took it for a ride and he knew right away something was up. Sure enough the cable to the oil pump let go. The sled was brand new. Thank christ the pump defaulted to the full open position. All it cost me was a set of plugs and some extra oil.

I had the plastic bushing that the end of the cable hooks into split and my cable pulled out. I started my sled to warm it up and saw that the oil pump arm was moving when I moved the throttle, halfway through the warmup I noticed the arm quit moving and the cable let go, so no damage that time but had I had the hood closed and drove away like that it would have been a different story for sure. :(

I was at the doo dealer today picking up a new lever for my oil pump on the doo as I just changed the throttle cable to the new low friction style and thinking of this post I asked him about my doo. He said it drops down past low ratio and stops in bypass mode. Full oil.

The pump on my Poo triple looks similar. The lever drops far below the line up mark. I wonder if it too goes into a bypass mode. I thought it would go low mix but it sure does drop down under the mark on spring pressure.

I did break one on the doo last year. It was brand new and I was just heading out. Luckily it broke at the block and both carbs failed as well. It was Kimcrap as was the junk I just replalced.
