With My stock airbox I keep getting crud built up on the openings of my carbs so I put on some K&Ns and now my plugs are white and am wondering how far I should jet up. I am already jetted up one size because I put on an aftermarket can. I was reading the disscussion on the stock air box and now dont know what to do and was wondering if you guys could help. I ride a 96 ski-doo formula III 600 Thanx

I don't know if have riden the sled yet. My 98 FIII 6 would never run right with K&N filters, even after messing with the jetting. Most doo engines perfer the airbox, it is position so it draws the cold air in from the outside. I would take your air box apart and clean it, then try it again. If you stay with the filters jet 1 or 2 sizes up. Make sure that the airbox is all the way up on the carbs too, you could be sucking air and dirt that way as well.

we tried k&n's on our srx and they didnt work, even after jetting properly, wasnt worth the money, even though the airbox is bulky.

if you are getting gas and oil in your airbox, you might want to investigate your reeds. if they arent sealing that happens sometimes.

I cleaned out my airbox and removed the baffle. My plugs are still white but with just a hint of tan on them. Would taking out the baffle increase airflow that much to still keep the plugs white. I do hve a pipe on my sled and plan on puting on a set of boyeson reeds on. I might also put on a thicker base gasket and machine the head. thanx guys :D

You need to post more info, what type of pipes, other engine mods, etc, etc. If the plugs are white you are too lean. Are the plugs new? What type of run did you do before checking your plugs etc. More INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why did you take out the baffle? whats that do? skidoos are very wierd about airbox mods as you found out. put the complete stock airbox back in and itll be fine. IMO mike

I would put stock airbox back together and seal it up good. The gunk on the intake side of the carbs is probably from bad reed petals .

FormulaIII8 is right...You need to post more info. Be specific as possible.

k+n`s 3 jets up, for you start with four and get comfortable, keep in mind the bottom is affected too... 2 clip positions minimum, pilot `s on some sleds like a jump from 25 to say 50.. remember you can melt cruisin...

way, way, overkill. itll never run right again.
k+n wont even flow as much as your stock box, plus your in hot underhood air.
do skidoo airboxes really restrict THAT much? IMO mike

Easy Mike. It's better to be too rich than to be too lean. Agreed?
