Too Much Smoke

I have an 89 Yamaha Ovation 340 that hasn't been used in several years. I was able to get it started, with a little work and TLC, but it is smoking like crazy when it is ideling and when I give it gas via the throttle, it stauls out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, AJ

Did you drain all the old gas and oil and replace it? Also, did you go through your carbs and make sure everything was clean? I guess thats a starting point. Once you are sure you have good gas and oil and the carbs are clean, then I would check to see if the oil pump is set correctly. Hope this helps. SWRules

Thanks for the advice. Even though I've had this machine for 14 years, I always had the dealer work on it. Now due to financial reasons, I'm trying to take care of it myself. Thanks again
