: Discrepancy In Skidoo Forum Special Information?

I'm trying to determine which combination of holes will give my secondary spring the highest preload, so I looked at the clutch info here:

Skidoo Forum Special Information (http://www.snowmobileworld.com/tech_center/dooclutch.php)

In the chart for the beige spring it lists B4 as the highest preload (30 LBS) and it lists B1 as having a preload of 16 LBS.

Yet in the chart for the white spring it list B1 as the highest preload (29 LBS) and it lists B4 as only 14 LBS.

It doesn't seem possible to me that a different spring would change the relative difference between each position. Could someone clarify this for me?

I am using a white spring, so can I assume that B1 will give me the highest preload?

Thanks
Randy

Yeah..the numbers don't make sense, but they are reliable. Try it out for yourself with a fish scale...let me know if they are off, but I don't think they are.

OK, assuming the charts are correct, does anyone have a logical explanation for the difference?

If you had the beige and white spring beside each other you would understand why the settings differ so greatly. Maybe someone has a pic of the two springs beside each other. The chart is pretty close but the only sureway is with the fish scale method as rocketman said :D I never could get the result i wanted with the beige spring either :sleepy:

The dogs on the ends of the springs are in a different relationship to each other from white to beige so they wrap up differently.

I agree, the best way to set the secondary is to use a scale. The charts are for reference only.
