I have a "99 ZL500EFI that when riding at constant speeds around 40mph, the engine quits. It will re-fire if I release the throttle and get back on it. Someone said may be Throttle Position Sensor. Also, this thing is a gas pig! Might get 80-85 miles to a tank. Are there performance chips out there that will lean out the mix? I'm assuming it is computer controlled as it is EFI. Any help is appreciated. Can I still get service on clutch recall?

Hey Bob
* Sounds like you have a real problem, wonder if the previous owner (Steve) had the same problem.

Does the engine cut-out or foul a plug?
If it cuts out, it could be your throttle safety switch.
If you foul a plug, I'd say it's with the EFI system. *My sled would foul plugs every time at 7,000 rpm's. *I went though the entire engine and clutching system. Still had the same problem. *I bought a new EFI chip off eBay. *I now have no fouling problems. *I also installed an adjustable EFI fuel pressure regulator. *My gas mileage is now about 12.5 MPG plus it runs much smoother. *
Hope this helps.
