Went to my local dealer to upgrade my 98 T-cat with a 2002 T-cat he still has on the floor, we started to talk about dealing when he said you might want to wait a couple weeks before changing sleds, when I asked him why he smiled and said 190-200 HP of 2stroke power, he did'nt say more, I thought Cat was getting out of the big triple market for 2003?
has any bodyelse heard somthing like this?? if so please give details.....

I'd say that your dealer is full of Crap! *It is wishfull thinking, but NONE of the dealers know what is going on until this coming week when they will all be in the Bahama's for the show!

catroy,
*i don't know who is talking with the stuff that should be spread on the roses or someone is totally without common sense here. one thing i do know is that a non current obsolete model sitting on my showroom floor is going to go even if the kid only needs a zr120 to carry his 6 year old big sister for the odd ride. so take it for what it is worth that is my curve on it.
*i like what catrules2000 had to say about the dealer.

catrules2000 & Paul, don't get upset or angry this is just somthing I heard from him, I have to belive that cat will not limit them selves to only twins, theres a market out there for triples or quads in 2 stroke and hiperformance 4 strokes I'd love to belive him, I really don't think he would have stated that remark if he did'nt know somthing was up.

catroy,
*i never get mad, i have a slightly hard time believing someone walks into a dealership with the loot for a non current product and the clown turns away the money. i guess he doesn't need the money. if you notice i said if "a non current was on my showroom floor" the kindergarten kid with a paper route would own it.
*something i have a problem with though is where are all the goofballs when "i" need them ? i always seem to deal with people smarter than me. LOL

Its almost funny to read your opinion on a NON-CURRENT snowmobile, so any person today that wants to buy a 3 cylinder Arctic Cat is just basically a fool with alot a money to waste because it's a seld of the pass , I bought A CURRENT snowmobile last year (ZR-800) for my wife ,not a bad seld but its not a seld for this FOOL,as for your taste in models old, new or whatever, snowmobile is not just a fashion, you spend your hard earn money on what you like, for me a Tcat is my type of seld. Oh by the way my old NON CURRENT MODEL does 114 mph in 1000 ft and gets 15MPG and it also has over 14,000 miles on it.

catroy,
*you have a wife ?
*anyways i did not say that a person buying a non current model sled was a fool, i bought one once. do you know what a non current model is ?
*if your sled will travel 114 mph in 1000' then that is great and if it gets 15 mpg that is great also.
*but i did say the "dealer was a clown" for not taking your money and i did say "where are these guys" when i need them.

I also heard from 2 dealers,(Neither one was my own) that there would be a 1200cc tripple out in a couple of weeks for the 2003 season only.I am not saying it's true but I believe something is brewing.Personally I dont care as I ride the twins and am looking forward to the purchase of the FireCat 7 or the ZR 900.It would be an awesome sled if they did bring it out for one year though.Makes me wonder what the cost of building something like that for only one year would be.There would be a lot of Happy T-Cat owners in 2003 though.Later Eh!!!

the thing i dont get is why would they build a 1200 cc sled when they already have the largest sled on the market

all they would have to do is produce the 1000 t-cat motor with APV's get about 20 more horse out of it and clutch it competitively from the factory and put a 1.25 inch track under it and then it would be the king of the hill

why go to the 1200 which would=more weight when you could tune and clutch what they already have. the 1000 t-cat motor already is the most powerful stock sled on the market but they get beat by other sleds because they are clutched lazy from the factory and can't hookup

If cat comes out with a 1200 it better be a 4 stroke. *Why do we need a 1200 2 stroke, they already have the 2 biggest 2 strokes out there the t-cat and zr900.

When I asked my dealer about what cats big surprise was going to be all he told me was that there was talk about the catfire and something about 1200cc sled. He did not know if it was 2 stroke or 4 stroke. My feeling is it's a 4 stroke to compete with the rx1.

It's 1300 cc's and a 4 stroke. *It's the hyabusa motorcycle engine. If I remember right, in the bike it's putting out about 170 HP.

Just a few points,

I can't believe a dealer would lie to a customer like Catroys situation, so that dealer obviously knows "something" and cares about his customer, otherwise he would try to sell him the T-cat on the floor! *The dealer has everything to lose by feeding a line of bull to Catroy. *Some dealers do have great relationships with the factory folks, and therefore get info that they shouldn't...that goes for any industry.

Catroy, sounds like you have a dealer who's happy to let you buy something you want instead of trying to sell you something he wants to get rid of...where are you located?

Paul, what do you mean with your reference to a kid and his sister....sorry, sometimes things have to hit me in the forehead for me to understand. *It sounds like you think that sled will sell no matter what...is that it? *As far as the dealer turning down a sale, that's what he should do if he wants repeat business from Catroy...he knows Catroy might be interesred in a new model.

And if this dealer is pretty sure this new 1200cc(or whatever)sled is coming out and is what catroy is looking for, not only will he have a repeat customer(more than likely) but the dealer will make more money off the new sled as it is higher priced, right? *I am no dealer, but it seems he would make more money that way rather than selling the older sled on the floor which has probably already been marked way down... http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif * Is my thinking correct Paul?

TallCool1

That's probably true P-hatr about which sled he'll make more money on, but the dealer can't bank on the future sale either. *Any dealer definitely wants to get rid of old mchds, but a respectable dealer will also consider the customers needs/wants. *Hopefully the dealer is thinking about the customer, not just $$$...if he takes care of the customer, he will get the sale. *That's how we run our GM dealership.

That's why it seems like a win/win situation "IF" catroy buys the new sled "IF" there is a new sled. *Dealer gets a happy, repeat customer, customer trusts dealer and is happy, and dealer gets more money to sweeten the deal. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
It does seem odd though that he would pass up a sale, ANY sale, based upon a hunch or rumor though.... http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

They should come out with a new name like the TOM CAT!!
Anyway, I ride a 800 ZRT mostly trail riding, and I don't see the need for anything faster for my situation, Im not a lake racer, but if I did have the money, who knows?? http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

what Jim & P-hat said is true, there are some dealers that just don't want the $$$$, after buying 11 arctic cat selds from this dealer in the last 13 years and sticking with him through good times and bad times he knows that if there a chance of a new big triple comeing out that he will not try to push a T-cat on the floor just to get a sale, he basicly told me to wait a couple weeks and he said that more then likely the T-cat will still be on his floor in two weeks in case this new model does not come out..
