I now have a 2003 model modular and was thinking of upgrading but the new bvs2 is 450 just wondering if anyone has tried it out and if it is that much better than the old modular.

Thanks

I picked up mine yesterday...I had to wait for the 3XL size to arrive. I have been using the modular helmet for the last three years.

The retail on this thing is $450.00, my dealer sold me mine, with the helmet case for $360.00. I definitely like the way it works over the modular design. It is a little more difficult to put on but once on it feels great and is much lighter than the modular. I haven't put the battery for the light in yet...I'm told that it a little tricky. The helmet has a much better seal than the modular as well....

The real test will be on my first cold ride but I expect, based on what I've read it will be excellent....Hope this helps....

One of the guys we ride with used his for the first time on Saturday, and really liked it. He was never able to find a helmet he liked, so that must mean something.

After 350 miles wearing it, I think it is worth every penny. It is so comfortable and you have amazing vision.

I just tried mine out yesturday.

I love it. It has all of the advantages of the old modular except its way more comfortable and the breathing mask fits your face better.

It also feels more solid. The old modular used to creak and just felt like it was an open faced helmet with some plastic for looks infront. This one feels like a real full face and i think it will offer some protection if you ever have a frontal collision with a tree or somthing.

I only have to things to whine about.

1. The exhaust for your breath comes right out the front and rises into the visor. It fogs the outside untill you start riding again. Not a real problem but just somthing to wine about. I guess the advantage is not having frozen breathing passages like the old helmet.

2. I dont like that stupid flashing light. The batteries are harder then hell to install, and if found that on a couple of occasions when i took the helmet out of my helmet case the light was flashing. And yesturday when i took it out the batteries were dead. So my light is comming on by itself. It doesnt bother me becasue I wont be using it at all. Maybe mine just has a bad switch or somthing.

Other then that its worth every penny. One other major advantage is that its alot warmer and zero wind gets thru the rubber visor seal unlike the drafty modular helmet that gave me frostbite on 3 diffrent occassions. And when your a professional male model like me stuff like that is important. :D

You guys are nuts for spending that money. I've seen them several times for $299 US. It amazed me at teh Novi sled show some retailers were getting 350-400 yet others had them there for 299. Shop around next time. It's still a big old helmet. I love my CL_X4 sno cross so much better than the full face. I'll never wear a full face again unless it's -25 or colder.
