i cant seem to get my 97 ultra sp to hook-up. i have tried a few things including softening torsion springs, loosening limiter strap and removing rear scissor stop. i weigh 170 lbs, so do i need the .406" torsion springs instead of the current .421" ? thanks in advance for your help.

Need a little more info, like are you running studs? How many/how long? Surface you are running on?
With that rear limiter off, that sled, if it ever does hook up, is going to scare the daylights out of you...

running 144 trail studs, correct length not junk but showing some wear. no traction on ice. cant pick up skis on packed trails either. no problem hanging them on grass though, skis stay about 1 1/2 feet in the air.

I don't get it. We have a couple similar sleds ('98 XCR7, 96 Ultra) still running with us, and nobody is having that problem. We're running 1.08" Woody's, using the standard 144 pattern/template with studs inside and outside. Stock springs on both.
Nothing out of the ordinary for setup.
Maybe studs a little more worn than you thought?
