I got a 03 ZR900,I Installed a 60/54helix,74g weights,a black D&Dprimary spring, stock secondary.Im Getting Massive belt slippage from a dead stop.I also can't get it to rev below 7500rpm.Im Running 240 studs..do you think i should remove a shim from the secondary??I know other people have run this setup with n problems.Any help would be great.

i am kind of finishing up my own version of a zr 900 myself and have one final obstical to get by.i built a zr 800 big bore (886c.c.) in my shop this summer i ex. these problems as well. what i ended up using was 77 gram weights in primary clutch, D&D orange spring up front 170/305 rates, (dd800txu) rear helix with stock 800 red with white rear spring in 3rd hole. my engagment rpm's are at 4000, with top rpm's at 7700. no belt slip any more, my only problem is that after about 100 mph's i blow belts up. i am told to change my gearing taller so the belt does not ride up to the top of the primary sheaves. hope this helps you out. estimated hp on my sled is about 165 it is a little higher than a stock 900 but thy make about the same torque

Try 76g weights

80 gram weights, goodwin black primary spring , a 62-54 helix with a blackmagic black/red secondary spring in the 3rd 0r fouth hole. or can use a d+d purple sceondary spring

Does anyone have any numbers to go along with these setups? What did you gain/sacrifice in performance? I'm always willing to try a new setup if it's worth it.

why are you running so many studs. 144 is all you need in that baby

The belt is dropping to far down the driven sheaves [sheaves splitting to easily] when you accelerate from a dead stop, you also don't have enough belt squeeze.
A 60/54 helix is way to steep to use with the stock red/white secondary spring and high gearing. I have found the AC green driven spring is the the one to use with high gearing [less belt slip, cooler belt, more top end], a 53deg helix also works very well with the grn sprg. especially starting off with lots of traction and high gearing.
The more traction and hook up you have the flatter the beginning helix angle has to be, also with higher gearing flatter helix angles have to be used. A 60/54 helix with a green driven spring would work great with no studs.

I had the same problem, there was not enough squeeze in the secondary because the primary weights were to heavy and causing the seconadary to slip.

I put a shollower helix (for more squeeze) in and dropped a couple of grams for a little higher RPM.
Try a 60/50 or a 60/52, red/white spring should be ok for those helix's

For all the money and testing/messin around I wish I just bought a complete kit from Goodwin or Dalton.

She now gets 110 on radar.

Good luck
