I took apart my TRA for my 1993 670 RAVE. The inner pulley shaft was cracked at the end of the shafts splines.
I thought it wasnt going to be a big issue but finding a good used one around here but it is starting to be. I bought one from a used parts dealer and only when I got home under flouresent lighting did I see that it was also cracked! Had to return it. I went to go see another dealer and yet another cracked shaft under good light! Always at the end of the splines were it plugs into the TRA clutch cover. Both of these dealers told me that when I get a good one to use loctite to prevent this problem. Is this true? Blue or Red? Red scares me a bit. I dont want to go through hell taking it apart for future maintenance.
Is this a common problem? Is there a good fix for it?
My TRA cover has a nice tight fit and the female plug end is not rusty.
I looked on Ebay for a replacement but I am bit weiry of getting yet another cracked one when it arrives. Email me if you have a good one for sale.
Help,....
Jim.
