I need to put a new track on my 97 Phazer II. The one that is on it is the stock one, the previous owner was not very nice to it and with a pipe on the sled, I would like it to hook up a little better.

What is the maximum high of the lugs that will fit?

Does anyone have a track that they recommend?

I do mostly trail riding with some off trail stuff and it is a 121 inch.

I was looking at the track on my dad’s 2001 Phazer Deluxe, it has .91-inch lugs I think, and it looked like a good candidate for my sled, any thoughts?

In addition, I do not want to put studs in the track.

Thank for any help.

I have a 1 inch Camoplast track (I think predator, I'll go check the model number if you'd like) that works great on mine. It came with the sled, I bought it used, and I'm not sure how much these are going for.

I ride a 96 Phazer st with a 136" which has 1" (approx) full block lugs (stock). My dad rides a 98 with a 136 / 1.5" paddle track. His definately performs better in the powder and climbing but with the stock power it's difficult to break the back end loose in a corned on the trail. With the shorter track you may not have this problem (121 x 1.5" paddle).

Thanks for the replies. I am glad to hear that there is enough room for 1.5” paddles. I would not be putting on one that tall, more like 1” to 1.25”, but I will not have to worry about clearances.

I will ask a more general question then. What kind of tracks are you guys using for aggressive trail riding? And I am interested in hearing from anyone, does not matter the make or model of the sled.

Thanks again for the help so far.

I've got a .91 Yokohama on my '86 Phazer. It's a take-off from an '02 Viper, if I remember correctly. It's a great track. The only problem is that since it is off a powerful machine, it is a hard-compound track. The little Phazer engine really should have a soft-compound track under it, which is easier to spin.

Do you happen to have a photo of that track close up? I am curious to see if it is the same track that came on my dad’s 2001 Phazer Deluxe. I remember reading that they took the track from the SRX 700 but I wonder if like you said the compound if different. Maybe a trip to the deal will be able to tell me.

Nice sled, that is really cool how you got that skid frame to fit.

I don't have a closer shot, and my digital camera crapped, so I can't snap a shot for ya. But the lugs look like the drawing below.

All the details of my sled project are at the yamamutt project link in my signature.

Interesting, that is not the same lug profile that is on my dad’s sled. However, based on what you said about track compounds with regard to motor size I think I am going to inquire what the cost of the track my dad has is from a dealer.

Nice site and sled. I have another question about your sled, when you fitted the Ski-Doo flex skis did you have to modify them or do they bolt on? I am wondering because a friend of mine put those skis on a Yamaha with Pro-Action front suspension and he had to have a bushing machined and pressed into the ski in order to use the original spindle bolt.

Royal Distributing has a good on-line catalog with pictures of available tracks/descriptions/pricing.

Can't make any recommendation for trail riding...everyone runs paddle tracks around here.

I used the ski-doo spindle bolt that came with the skis. It was the right size. However, the yammi spindle is skinnier than a ski-doo, so I had to use two washer on each one to fill the gap between the spindle and ski saddle.
