I got a 93 XLT,It was getting a slight bog last year,so I cleaned the carbs today, and after running it on a stand,it still has a bog, slow response when ya hammer it??The carbs looked clean, and everything else should be tip-top,where do you look next??Would moving needle valves up or down make a difference? What about adjusting the secondary,or moving the spring position??Let me here some idesd please!!!!Thanx !!

i had the fugi 500 motor and after a couple of years it started getting a bog that got worse and worse. I cleaned, and rebuilt the carbs and clutches and still it was there. So anyways after many nights and many beer in the garage i figured out that the motor mounts were destroyed and it warped the mounting plate. Got it welded, change mounts and it ran like it was new. Maybe not your problem but just a thought

How many miles? If more than 3000, take a look at rebuilding the primary. The weights can get a flat spot and cause a bog. (Used to happen at 1500 with my Cat)

I had the same problem with my xlt a couple of years ago,it turned out to be a bushing in my secondary clutch,it was a small one thet actually rides over the jackshaft.
i could not find one to purchase anywhere so we made one out of oilite material in the machine shop, what a job.
when them secondary clutches bind the sled will not want to move but it also could be something as simple as worn out buttons in your secondary,i would check them first. also if they are completely gone you might want to replace the helix also, there is a nice 34 degree helix on e-bay right now.
good luck.

The sled is jetted correctly, there is SLP pipes on it,an EPI clutch kit, ect. It really rocked last year, just was starting to get a little slouchy off the line, this year I feel it is getting worse, there is some wear on the primary clutch.i had belt problems last year, the belt barely comes out of the secondary clutch, maybe I should bring the sheaves closer together??

does it feel like it is sucking air?
maybe the crank seals are gone... start the motor let it idle.. spray some WD-40 down on both sides of the cases and if the motor picks up rpms you know that you are sucking air and may need seals... just a thought

Isn't it hard to tell how bad it actually is running it on a stand?
I race these sleds and I think you need your primary clutch rebuilt or cleaned, if you are testing it up on the stand with out a load on it you wont be able to pin down the problem just like SEXltsp said in the last forum. :)
