My 95 bonneville's supercharger has a rattle at idle ,I was told that usually this is caused by the coupler between the nose and the body of the s.c. being worn. I have the part i need, but if any of you have had a g.m. supercharger apart I would appreiciate any tips you may have. Thanks as always.

superchargers are tricky, you need to know how they work and all there internals. My friend has a lightning and he works on his 24/7. There very complicated and easy to F up.

Try calling Magnuson Products out of California. They are the only licensed GM rebuilder for Eaton superchargers. # 1 800 648 6436.

I'm sure they have a tech info guy on hand.

Once you get the nose drive off, look very close at the seals for any leakage, also make sure there is no slop in the bearings. Rebuilt nose drives are available from Magnuson.

Good luck,let us know

I found this site when I was doing some research on a Bonne that we ended up buying:

www.bonnevilleclub.com (http://www.bonnevilleclub.com)

There's quite a few people there that know the suprecharged cars pretty well. Also steps on rebuilding in the forced induction forum. Maybe you want to check that out. I am "TDS-94SSEi" over there. Haven't been on there much lately though. Been thinking sleds more than my Bonneville lately.

Hope that is some help, indirectly, heh heh!! Good luck!

Hey

I have a 2000 Grand Prix GTX, I have had my supercharger apart several times.

To replace the coupler is really easy. Below is a good link with instructions about how to do it on a 2000 GTP. Your Bonnie should be very similar except you have an M62 Supercharger where the GTP's have M90's.

Coupler Replacement Instructions (http://www3.sympatico.ca/aepa/blowerinstall.html)

Go to any GM dealership and ask for some Supercharger oil (GM p/n 12345982) You will need about two bottles. Don't worry its not expensive :)

You will also need some anerobic gasket maker to go between the snout and supercharger housing in order to seal it and prevent the supercharger oil from dripping out.

Good Luck !! Don't worry its not hard :)
