: First Lake Run Of The Year
CORY9 12-10-2003, 10:35 AM Skated out on the lake yesterday with my ice chisle. Cut a hole in a few spots and there was about 5 inch, went home and got the machine. I went down the lake about a km and a half and my dad said he thought I was still just outside the house. Man the mbrp race can is LOUD!! I love it, neighbours probably don't
mustardman 12-10-2003, 12:54 PM the mbrp race can is wicked loud on that sled. I have the dynoport and know how loud that is but has a very nice rumble to it :inlove: .
if i have my 99 mxz 600, i cant wait to hit the ice and beat up on some zr800, mxz800, rx1, vipers, xc 600's, whatever.
had a blast with my on the grass this past year.
I'll post a link and show you
mustardman 12-10-2003, 01:02 PM here is a pic of me beating a Blair Morgan in 500 feet
mustardman 12-10-2003, 01:04 PM another one of me losing to a 925CC cat, beat xcr800 and then my yellow mxz and waaaay behind is a 2003 600HO renegade :inlove: w00t
CORY9 12-10-2003, 05:29 PM Thats awsome! Last winter I could smoke my buddys 99xc 700, and run almost even with the same year srx. That was bone stock as well. I cant wait to see how it will do this year with the few mods I have made. They sure seen to do alright for smaller machines :D ! What have you done to yours?
shakes800 12-10-2003, 05:35 PM Beat up on mxz800's? Oh come on! i got one i will race you with......
snokid 600 12-10-2003, 06:19 PM Cory once I get back from VA I have to rebuild my engine, so I figure that this would be a good time to put on my mods. I just wanted to know what mods that you as well as others put on there 99 MXZ 600 any your results. My sled had 1070 miles on it when it blew up. The oil pump bearing went out causing the oil pump gear to strip out blowing up the whole engine :cussing: . I plan on a clutch kit and a exhaust can and want to do some engine mods. One thing that I don't want to lose is engine reliability so I'm thinking of staying away from boring my cylinders. My goal is to be able to beat my buddies mach 670. He like to brag alot so I want to shut him up with my 600.
Also what the Hell dose mustardman have on that 600 to be able to beat 800's.
Thanks for all the help, and enjoy the snow
Let It SNOW :christmas:
Ian
This is the year before last ALL STOCK :slick: Thats why I rode my 98 FZ670 till I
totalled it out X mas day :cussing:
RotaxKid 12-10-2003, 10:37 PM There is honeslty little you guys can do to make any quick gains with this block. I've trie dmy share, I have over 25,000km between 3 S III 600's, clutching and reeds, and a head are the only areas you will net any worthwhilegains on this block. First, before anything else, clutch it, cudney's kit seems to work okay, but a homebrew kit has worked better for me.
CORY9 12-10-2003, 10:44 PM Snokid. I rebuilt the top end this year and also wanted the reliability. I did go .20 over and stuck wiesco's in . I personally don't belive I will loose any reliability from that. I have stock reed cages with the carbon tech pedals. A buddy of mine has done a lot of messing around with reeds in his 600. He found these work best and I'd have to agree. At the snowmobile show in Toronto this spring, we picked up a clutch kit from Bill Cudney. Hell of a nice guy to deal with. Installed a 1.25 track with woodys down the centre, and a MBRP race can for noise{i'm 19, i love my noise}. Once we get some real ridding conditions, I was thinking about knocking one tooth off my upper gear. I'm not extremely concerned with my top end, I love the low end pull. Well see how it goes.
As for beating up on the 800's. Its the old story of cubic inch. Top end no chance, but ill give ya a darn good run until 140km. haha sorry I don't know what that is in miles. Gota love Canadians EH!!!
snokid 600 12-11-2003, 10:03 AM Cory, I'm also 19 and love the noise but I like the sound that the HPS puts out. If you get a ski-doo performance book it will tell you all of the different gear combiniations and what your speeds will be. It also tells what team ski-doo uses in the grass drags.
How much different dose the sled act with those mods, takeoff..........
Thanks Ian
My truck has stright pipes: LOUD :D :hallo1:
CORY9 12-11-2003, 10:39 AM Ian. since its a fresh motor I tried to take it easy, but I did give a couple squirts. From a dead stop it now engages at 5100rpm. I was out in a back bay first as it was the first to freeze. I started for the first 25-30ft on grass, and there was no spinning that track. She pulled hard with the ski's in the air. We don't have any snow right now so it's hard to tell exactly what it performs like.
Nice looking truck, sure love the sound of a 350 chev. I only have a 305 in my 91. FOR NOW. Id love a 5.7 vortech.
BnBElim 12-11-2003, 03:42 PM Hey fellas, Just wanted to let you know that I too have a '99 MxZ 600 wiht some mods. Man does she fly. I have a Goodwin clutch kit, V-force reeds, heads shaved, 144 studs, and my favorite, the B&B Eliminator (MBRP race can). My sled hooks up and flies. She tears it up on the trails and will give you a serious run on the lake. Im not saying shes the fastest but just dont blink. I love this sled, and if it wasnt for so many miles (7,000+), I would keep her, but Im up for a rev next year. Just figured Id let you know bout my baby!
CheCat 12-11-2003, 08:49 PM Hey hey. Don't mean to budge in on the chit chat with a bit of a rookie question, but this seems to be the right post to get a definitive answer. Here's my deal-e-o:
I want this ---->
http://www.ski-doo.com/media/sleds/235_st_223_03_lrg_e.jpg
The 800HO Renegade X is about $1500 Cdn more than the 600HO. The only sled of worth that I've ridden is my buddies '01 800 Renegade. I loved it. Will I be happy with the 600? I don't care about top speed, only trail performance. Read: Massive Acceleration. I really want to save the money come spring, but have no idea how the 600 compares to the 800 for the kind of riding I mentioned. Help?
Cheers.
440_rider 12-11-2003, 09:39 PM my buddy Steve schutter a.k.a hillbilly used too race a 99 mxz 600 in the grass, and was #1 in the state of ohio for 2 yrs. he used too race with his step-dad john who raced a 2000 700 mxz. But that fockin sled was un touchable in 500 ft un less you had a mod 900 or above, he has beat blair, kelly shilts, and some of the other top racers. so I know if you have a 99 600 with the right set-up it will blow alot away up too 600 ft.
440_rider 12-11-2003, 09:45 PM sno kid600 its all in clutching, gearing, and suspension set up
CORY9 12-11-2003, 10:15 PM Checat. I personaly like the 600. If set up right it will keep up with the bigger boys untill you really get going. You save the 1500 but you will end up putting a few hunderd in mods back into your 600 if you really want to keep up. The 600 has all the power you will need on the trails. Save some money on insurance im sure as well. Just my thoughts
Sharkey 12-11-2003, 10:34 PM I have good experience with the 99 Doo 600 in the World series of ice finals, and got a 2001 and it is even faster, as I won season points champ here in Minnesota in stock 600 and 700 single pipe classes. MSDRS Ice series.
snokid 600 12-12-2003, 01:13 AM I've taken in all of these different post and have all kinds of ideas. So you guys that are more experienced on the 99 MXZ 600 what is going to be my best setup.
I want to be able to beat my buddies mach 670 and ZRT800. Such as clutching, gearing, suspension etc. I had my 98 FZ 670 running and hooking up great just like I wanted, after 2 years of playing with it but I smashed it :cussing:. So I got out the spare sled and started riding it again. Now I'm dealing with a different chassie, suspension, and type of engine.
Time to go to bed very long day, and have another ahead. One thing thats funny, people in VA think I'm crazy for wearing my T-shirt when its in the upper 40's. They also don't know how do drive in snow!!
Thanks for the Info
Ian
