Hi guys, I just saw this on the Pittsburg Ridge Runner club site this morning. I know there was a post several weeks earlier where the trailer (new) and sled (new) were stolen and a post was put out on it. Here is the update.

Stolen Sled Recovered!

It's back!! Just recovered the sled tonight, 12/5/03. No damage! WoW!!

The sled was located on Rt 11 in Rochester just a little past WalMart. It was covered with a blue tarp sitting on the side of the road. My brothers friend noticed it this morning so I went over after work and took the cover off and there it was. My sled.

The police tried to get fingerprints off it but no luck. The house that it was in front of was empty.

I can't figure it out but I'm so happy it's home. Lessons learned through this is make sure you have insurance on your trailer and sled. Keep your stuff locked and protected.

Editor's note: The trailer was recovered a few days before in a different area. Maybe all the pressure from the publicity that Paul generated, caused the thieves to decide that the sled was too hot to handle. See you on the trails Paul!

I'll tell you that publicity helped,I travel all over the state to jobs and every time I mentioned to people to be on the lookout for a stolen sled that matched the description most people had already heard about it and were watching for it.

My buddy has a sled shop/junkyard here in town and it was a hot topic there too.

This is an example of how great the sledding community is,and mixed with the internet hopefully we can prevent more thefts or at least help more people recover their sleds if they do get swiped. :D

There's strength in numbers! We are tryin g to add a stolen sleds forum page to our website. Might talk to your clubs about doing the same-just to get and keep the word out there!

Awesome, I had a sled that was stolen and then recovered. The thiefs only put about 20 miles on it before it was recovered.

congrats congrats,,,,and you just cant beat that there was nothing wrong with it when he got it back,,,,,a happy ending,,,,only thing better would have been the theives getting caught,,,,
