I just got a 2000 ZRT800, I haven't ridden it yet, but I have started it a few times, and idleed it a bit. It is stock except D&D breather box, 370 mains (up 2). It has not been ridden since it has been out of winter storage. When I idle it for a while and then wide open from idle it misses/backfires/bogs a little ( with track in air). If I rev it a few times then do it (from idle) it doesn't. Or if I come off idel then gun it it takes off good. Does it sound like it just needs to be ridden and heated up good, or does it sound like there is something wrong? It has been maticulously maintained, and starts first pull, so I assume that it just needs to be ridden and reved a bit, maybee it is loaded up a bit? What do you think? I can't wait to ride it and want to make sure everything is ready. I read about throttle safety switch causing this, what does that switch do and hopw does it casue a bog/backfire, if thsi could even be related. Thanks

I'm kind of having the same type of problem on my 01 Mnt Cat 800 but it hasn't been sitting. I put about 600 miles on it this winter and then out of the blue it was hesitating/bogging at mid range (3500-5000 rpms). It I hold it at any position in that range it will die but if I let off or hammer down it runs fine. I don't know what to do but it is getting old fast.
