well guys and gals....i mannaged to get some good riding time in on my f6 std yesturday. I put on 112 miles in total. and i was very impressed. The only thing i didnt like was this terrible whinning noise at about 6500 rpm but besides that i have no complaints. I never got into any real hard ruff stuff, i'll save that for when the sled is broke in a bit but i did hit some good bumps later in the day when the trials got a little chewed up. The chassis was flawless. With the 6 " bar riser i could stand all day long and my back never got tired. It was great. I couldnt believe how well the sled reacted to my body position. I only wiegh 155 pds so getting a sled to react is sometimes hard. I have finally found a sled that i can control with some body english. Other sleds like my ZR 800 i really had a hard time, they seem to go where they wanted to go and i would have a hard time using what wieght i have to control them. It was just so much easier with the firecat. The X country girp plates from AC that i added along the running boards worked so good, i always had good traction for my feet and i wasnt scared of them slipping when riding hard on the running boards. I bought my sled with the 1" lug track on it which i soon changed to 1.375". Probably the best thing i ever done. Half of my riding yesturday was breaking my own trial in anywhere between 1-2 feet of fresh snow. the snow was heavey so it had somewhat of a bottom to it which also helped. While riding out a trial i had to venture down a steep ridge whith some nasty drifts in it. No problem going down but i knew i was gonna have to ride good and hard to get back up the ridge. Just to add a bit more fun, there was a nice 90 degree corner at the bottom of the ridge so there wasnt much room for getting good momentum. I have to admit i was a bit nervous still getting used to the sled and being alone i really didnt want to get stuck. Or i was screwed. But with some hard riding the 1.375 track went up the ridge with ease. I was very surprised at how well it performed in the deep snow.
My oil light started flickering at about 110 miles, my machine now has 126 miles on it and its pretty much staying on all time now.
Now here comes the good part......while i was out i found a 2001 zr 800 clutched and piped. I have yet to put a wrench on my clutch so i am bone stock out of the box. We raced and out of the hole he was getting a couple leagnths on me but without studs i was just spining on the ice under about 4 " of packed snow and he was hooking up because of his studs. ( my studs should be in this week finally) But once i got going we were even, he could not pull me on top end. we were also out on some nice long wide open woods roads, even there the zr 800 with pipes couldnt get away from my little 600. At the time i had only put on maybe 50 miles on my sled.

So there you have it, my impression of the early build f6. 2 thumps, 8 fingers and 10 toes up on this sled.

Good report dawg and sled is looking great. You plan on putting a yellow screen kit in? I think that would be the icing on the cake.

phazer, i am diffenetly going with the yellow grill vents, it will be the icing on the cake for sure. i think they may be under my christmas tree, so i'll have to wait.

polcat, well it wasnt only a few hundred dollars more for an f7 efi. I could have bought a carb f7 for maybe 5 or 600 dollars more but the efi was at least 1000 dollars difference. also, i ride with mostly 600 cc sleds. there is also a zr 800 and 2 xc 800's that i ride with. If i had purchased a f7, i would have woped them so bad it would have not been fun fter the first 10 @$$ wopins. so why not buy an f6, that everyone is saying is as fast as the 800 twin and make them swet it out knowing that there 800 cc sleds cant get away from a little 600. I figure it will be mre fun that way, anu then i can still race with the other 600 sleds in my group and have fun woping them and they cant say well you are running a 700. so that way nobody has an excuse.

because you'll never notice the difference and the F7 will be worth the same as the F6 in 4 years.

Congrats dawg!!

I'm really impressed with the performance of the new F-cats, hoping to find someone who'll let me try one out, but I don't know too many Cat owners.

Why not buy an F7??? I think your experience with the ZR800 pretty much answers that question!!

While I was testing sleds last year, I snow tested an F5, it was nice, but......just didn't inspire me. The dealer didn't have any F7's. He got in an F6 and I fell in love with it, alas, my dealer already had a perspective owner lined up and wouldn't sell it to me (I offered to sign right then and there). It had everything I wanted-with the extra OOOMMPPFFF I wanted.

I'm glad you are happy with it! Hope your season reinforces ytour happiness!

Glad to hear you really like the F6 Nate. Can't wait till we get out together and see how it compares to the ZRT, in a race that is b/c it wont be a comparison on the trails. Hopefully I can get my brother ouyt with his F7 to compare yours to that. Looks like heavy rain for tonight hopefully it doesn't take all the snow. I see theres a few tracks going up the railbed in keswick.

Sharp looking sled, haven't ridden a new F5,6,or 7 yet, but one of my riding buddies got one from his girlfriend this summer. my time is near. He got an F7, I'll have to line my Ski doo up with it and see what happens. I haven't raced any sled that can beat me off the line yet, but this one looks like it may have a chance

Again Nice sled.
