I seem to be fouling my plugs more than what i consider normal on my '99 zrt800. i was wondering if going down from a 35 pilot jet to a 30 pilot jet would be safe and have less fouling on start up and idle time. My carbs are in sync and mixture screws are at factory specs. in my signature is the list of what i have done to the zrt if need more info. Thanks for any help could save me alot of trial & error time.

I went to a 35 pj from a 40 on my stock 600 triple and only foul a plug on very rare occations and some times it is oil fouling not fuel fouling, because of Cat's bright idea of mixing the oil at the pump instead in the manifolds, the oil ratio is wrong at times.

Yes i'm beginning to think it's the oil pump mixing too rich anyone know what the safe setting should be? I put new plugs in and the thick dark smoke just rolls out and all my pipe joints have a black liquid coming out on start up.

Before you go messing with your oil pump check to see what you are getting for a fuel oil ratio. I always thought that black smoke was from running rich on the fuel. I've never fouled a plug on my ZRT and it idles upto 5 minutes while I get ready. I to noticed a little black residue (oil??) coming from out around where my pipes go into the engine. I just noticed this after installing a new silencer, so am thinking the pipes didn't seal up good, but haven't got any snow to see how bad it is leaking.
