Looking for anyone with shock valving experience on the Expert X suspension. Ive got this skid in my 03 REV X, it kicks bad in the whoops..Setup appears as though it would be perfect if the rider was further back like tradional sleds, but with the rider forward position I need to go ALOT softer with this thing. Any suggestions?

mine were stiff when new but are about right now (after a season, LOL). Still have the springs on lowest preload though, some kick at mid speeds, faster I go the better it gets. I have mine set back on a zx chassis, the setback puts me kind of in the same situation your in with the rev. Options I considered were 1. pulling the springs and compressing to bind over night. 2. trying a set of formZ dual springs, stock or maybe softer off the doo charts 3. modifing the spring seats for less preload. I'm happy with mine and think the valving is fine now that the springs have settled. My biggest complaint is how heavy the frickin things are, I'm working on that.

My kick seems to occur the most when Its compressed far enough to get into the torsion springs. Im going to look into the FZ springs, I had forgotten all about that option. Im a trail rider so weight doesnt bother me so much, Im looking for plush.. Im not there yet.

TT670, let me know how they work out, or if you measure any of the spring rates or lengths anything. The FZ springs were dual springs with a crossover spacer. I know some guys using springs like this on coilover rears (holtz and pl skids), they may the same size and give more tuning options. Elkolm also has a lightweight version of the xpert, might be worth checking what spring they use. Polaris also had a part # for these short/long springs, thi k you got a hand full in a kit you could mix and match. Guess what I'm saying is there are some options to check out.

Did you try pulling the torsion assist springs?

I talked with Rob Pilgrim today, he thought trying the FZ springs was a great Idea, and said the should work fine with possibly only the need for a spacer for proper height. I didnt remove the assist spring but do have them in the softer hole, Ive tried the ride height in all positions and find its best at the highest setting. I think Ive got a set of FZ springs coming and Ive got a great shock guy whos willing to spend as much time as we need testing to get the valving right. Im no where near giving up on this skid but at this point its a long way from being as good as a stock 2004 REV(even in the trail package).
