Yeah we had that same cold spell here in New Brunswick. It got down below -40*C with the windchill a day or two here if I can remember right. Didn't have to worry about the ice not being froze.

Alright, alright. FORGET about what it was with the windchill. That's silly! Obviously if you're riding, there's anywhere up to 120mph wind chill!
Up here, in Yellowknife, the everage is -20c. My coldest day out was -32c (no wind chill on that one) :blahblah:

It was -37* C when we left New Liskeard last February for our trip. Later that week it was +1 before we got to Timmins. Who would have thought we'd see a 38* change.

YEAH,
UP here in WI on the north coast we call it,windchill is nothing cause we have it everyday.10 below farenheit is common, that's when we finally get out the longjohns LOL.
I went riding with a buddy once when it was 24F below and man did that suck, there was no fogging on the helmet, instead it was frosting,we made it io miles and went home. NEVER AGAIN.

Left Gogama Ont. one morning in january of 2000 at -40 c ( or F at the temp it is the same ) wearing canadian tire snow suits . Rode to New liskard ...well almost ...very long story . Neadless to say we no longer wear cheap suits and if it's - 40 again anywhere...... I'm leaving my butt parked right where it is !

This is what the first 18 miles looked like , then things got worse !

Jan 1994. Houghton Mi. -30 to -35F in morning and at night, warming to around -10F during the day for several days. Rode up to Copper Harbor and back. Saw maybe 15 sleds all day. I'll never do that again! If we were to break down, we would only have a few hours until we were in serious trouble.

Last winter we were finishing the days ride and noticed it was getting cold, checked the truck and it was -10 F, that was in Newberry, we then had reservations in Houghton,Hancock area that night, the whole trip over the temp continued to drop, by the time we reached the Keewanaw it was -36 F. Needless to say the sleds started hard the next morning. Gotta love newer vehicles with the temp right in the rear view mirror. :christmas:

Last year when me and a buddy went on a derby, it was -37 C when we left my house around noon. When we got home at 5:00, it was -44. THat was a cold day, but fun, not a lot of trail traffic, and most people who were our rode the same way we did. I wouldn't really be excited to ride in that weather, but, me and the guy had it planned for a while and i wasn't backing out!

Has been down to -37* C here without the wind. I'm not 100% certain, but I think that was around last January or so.

The coldest weather I've been in is -38° F up at Halfway Haven in Jeep Lake, ON. That was first thing in the morning. We waited until the weather "warmed up" to -22° F before we went out riding.

We went to my remote cottage for 5 days last season, and it was -35c four nights straight. Never stopped us from riding, infact riding was almost warmer than the cottage, as the propane just didn't want to vapourize at those temps, and the furnace wouldn't get all that warm.

this pic was one of the warmer days.

About 10 years ago, my buddy and I pulled into our normal lodge in St Germain, WI, and it was about 30* F below. Fuel in his sled froze on the way up. When we jumped in his new K-blazer the next day or so, the dash had split right in the middle due to the temps. GM replaced it.

One other time it was also about 30 below, and three of us couples were about 70 miles from home at 8:00 at night...one of the longest rides home ever. 'Think it took us about 3 hrs by trail, due to stopping and trying to warm up the fingers. My wife had it the worst, as she was a few months pregnant....blood not circulating so well.

About 10 below is just fine by me. I get a little nervous when the temps get close to 20 above, especially if the sun's trying to peep through.
