Ive driven all brands of sleds, Ive never noticed a paticular noise comming from the clutch. It should be silent.
But try discribing the noise. And if by chance you have a spare belt, try throwing it on to see if the noise goes away.

I had a 98 Touring Sle with RER, that had the same intermitent clunk on take off too. It was caused by the slop in the key way, between the brake rotor and the jack shaft. If you turn the brake disc back and forth by hand you'll probably see what I mean. My mechanic at the dealer said, it's a common thing but not to worry, he's never seen one shear off.

RER sleds with the belt set a little too loose will often clunk when taking off. Try tightening up your belt deflection just a little, don't over do it. It usually goes away with a minor adjustment. Also, make sure your chain tension is set correctly. These two adjustments will stop 90% of any clunking. Good Luck!

My 2004 GSX makes that same noise.
How do you adjust the belt deflection?
