I'm studding an 89 Formula plus LT. Are tunnel protecters necesary or just recomended? I don't plan on jumping the sled, just the lake and trails.

unless you like swiss cheese holes in your heat exchangers, use em!

This is probably a SSQ........but here it goes!

I have a 97 formula 500 with a studded track,
would the tunnel also be recommended for this model? and if so..

The exchanger is at the rear of the tunnel, and if you put protection there, how is snow suppose to cool down the unit?

Don't worry about the questions ..... keep asking. The tunnel protectors for studding are simply a larger (taller) version of the black plastic strip that is currently running the full length of your heat exchanger, which run pretty much full length of your tunnel. It won't prevent snow from collecting on the exchanger, it merely prevents the track (hence the studs) from defelecting upward and hitting the exchanger.
