Posted this up in General Chit Chat.
Averaged 35-36 seconds between commands and was getting quite frustrated. Thanks to a fellow sledder, went to My Control- Skins and Language, and changed to spe w00t edy surfing (something like that) and VOILA, cut my response time in HALF!!!

i find that right now the site is not bad...not as fast as others but sometimes its really bogged down for some reason.

I don't really get why people complain about the loading of this site. I get tired of hearing how this site is slow yet all others are fast. Does anyone realize that the amount of images being loaded on this site is WAY more than any other site?

But YOU control this. I just don't get it. Users are uploading larger and larger images, larger signature images with animation, along with some huge avatar files and people wonder why the site loads slow.

Turn off avatars and images in the MY CONTROLS area and switch to the FASTER SURFING skin. Let's see just how fast it loads then...

It was a blanket statement I think. There have been numerous posts popping up all over about slow site and response time, so it was a "copy and paste" deal. :wink:
What Corey9 said is exactly right though, if you think things are running slow and want to speed it up, switch skins and turn all the extra crap off! You would be amazed at the difference it makes, and NOBODY should have any room to complain about things running slow now.
