 I own a 1998 xtc 700 triple with triple bender pipes and I want to do the modification with the head gasket. Do I just get rid of the metal in between the paper gaskets and put the two paper gaskets together or do I just use one of the paper gaskets. Also when I do this mod do I need to rejet the carbs and if so how much do I go up. iam running 150's at the moment. Any help would be greatly appreciatted I don't want to burn it down.

Dump the metal gasket, and only use one of the "paper" gaskets. So essentially you will now have a spare set of head gaskets.
Pay attention, because some head gaskets are marked "up", and you want to get that right when you reinstall.
Jetting does not need to be changed (you are not changing the volume of air that the motor can process, only changing the compression), but if you used 87 octane before, you may want to step up to 89 or 93 for peace of mind.

Just take the middle layer out and get some copper coat and redo the gaskets and reassemble. I've got a 99 700 with 4,000mi on it with this set up. You will probably have to add more weight to the clutch. Remember to purge air from cooling system!!!
