What is the advantage of having heated carbs? *When should you use them and when shouldn't you?

I don't own a sled w/ heated carbs but I would gusse two advantages are 1: keeps carbs from iceing up and freezing and 2: better fuel mileage http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif . How ever with heated carbs you lose some HP cause the fuel in the carbs is warm and it doesn't burn as well 'cause it can't mix with the air as well. But what would you have better mileage? or 1or2 extra HP? I would take the mileage http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

On 2002 Renegades there is a valve to turn it on and off. *So when would you want to have it on, or off?

Unless it si really cold -15 C or more we leave them off on the GADES. They seem to burp and backfire more when the *heated carbs are turned on.
