Yup you are correct. Both the warrior, big bear 350 and even the wolverine use the same engine. Its a good solid performer and as reliable as any honda :p. Not sure the first year of the engine but it has been in the warrior and wolvy all its life.

It's a bit misleading to say that they all have the same engine, and that they've been the same for years. There are actually some very big differences.
However, many of the parts are interchangable, for example, you can switch the piston, head and cylinder, with no trouble, but bottom end parts are a different story. It is possible to put Big Bear gears into a Wolverine, and I think the clutch basket might be the same, but the crank, the cases, the starter etc... are all very different.
I agree totally that they are very strong and very dependable motors, though they tend to be one or the other, and not both. THe Big Bear, with it's low compression and slower turning motor tends to last forever. The WOlverine, being much sportier, tends to me ridden much more aggressively (why wouldn't it be? It outruns Honda and Polaris 500's) and will need alot more maintinence. The Warrior needs an oil cooler to improve it's durability.
The greatest thing about these motors is that they are stone simple, and easy to work on. If you can fix a lawn mower you'll have no trouble working on these quads. Trust me, I had my Wolverine apart many times.
